Senior Java Developer

Initial 12-month contract (100% Remote EST) with strong possibility of extension. 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain open-source integrations using Spring and Spring Integration, replacing existing MuleSoft-based integrations
• Build and establish reusable integration frameworks and backend flows to support a large pipeline of upcoming integrations
• Collaborate with a small development team to deliver secure, scalable integration solutions within a COTS application ecosystem (no development within the COTS platform itself)
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to two developers, acting as the senior Java resource on the team (~80% hands-on development / ~20% coaching)
• Troubleshoot and optimize integration services, ensuring reliability and performance across operational platforms
• Work closely with stakeholders to understand integration requirements and rapidly deliver production-ready solutions
• Contribute to operational readiness, deployment, and ongoing support of integration services

Must Have Skills:

• 5+ years of hands-on Java development experience, with strong expertise in Spring, Spring Boot, and Spring Integration
• Demonstrated experience designing and building API or system integrations within distributed environments
• Experience building or maintaining reports using Jasper Reports
• Strong understanding of modern Spring ecosystem components and ability to quickly troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
• Experience building backend services, frameworks, and integration flows in enterprise environments
• Proven ability to work independently as a senior technical resource and guide less experienced developers
• Experience deploying and supporting applications in cloud-native or containerized environments
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to hit the ground running in a fast-moving integration program

Nice-to-have Skills:

• Experience migrating or re-platforming integrations away from MuleSoft or other ESB/iPaaS solutions
• Exposure to OpenShift administration or supporting containerized deployments
• Previous experience working with COTS-based enterprise platforms where integrations are built externally
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery environments
