Senior Data Tester to lead, manage, and plan ETL testing activities in an Azure environment for a non-profit client

Our valued not-for-profit client is seeking a Senior Data Tester to lead, manage, and plan ETL testing activities in an Azure environment! (Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake, etc)

Initial 1-year contract in Ottawa, ON, with possibility of extension. Candidates with the ability to work on-site downtown Ottawa 3 days/week will be prioritized. 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, manage, plan, and coordinate the ETL/Data testing activities: Test Strategies, Test Plans, Test Cases, and Test Scripts.
• Write and execute complex Test Scripts, on the Azure Databricks platform, for data warehouse/engineering processes based on documented data mapping and data transformation rules.
• Record test execution results and evidence of test in Azure DevOps.
• Ensure the test activities are planned and performed according to requirements and standards from the Test Center of Excellence
• Coordinate and support the business with User Acceptance Testing
• Lead defect triage meeting. Document defects, work with developers to resolve, and retest.
• Develop technical system specifications and standard operating procedures documents
• Collaborate, share knowledge, and mentor team members.
• Participate in team meetings to provide a status report of work in progress, accomplished and problems / issues encountered.
• Participate in technical meetings with client staff, and advise client with technical option analyses based on leading practices

Must Have Skills:

• 5+ years' work experience as an Data / ETL tester writing tests cases and tests scripts based on documented data mapping and business data transformation rules.
• 2+ years' work experience with Microsoft Azure data platform: Azure Databricks, SQL Databases, Azure Data Lake. Experience with additional programming languages is an asset: Scala, Python, R, Azure functions.
• Minimum 5 years experience with the following:
• Experience writing complex SQL queries, performance tuning and data optimization
• Experience designing, developing, implementing, and testing data solutions for reporting applications such as Power BI
• Experience in systems development with analysis, design, development, testing and deployment of software systems.
• Experience with the implementation of batch and stream data processing pipelines
• 5+ years work experience with various types of software testing such as functional, integration, system integration, performance, etc. for data transformation processes. '

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience working on large scale data analytics projects.
• Experience with the development of Microsoft Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Experience with Agile sprint development using Azure DevOps.
• Experience working with spatial data is an asset
