Senior Cloud Data Engineer to manage, configure, and administer Google Cloud Platform and support data migration initiatives

Our client is looking for a Senior Cloud Data Engineer to manage, configure, and administer Google Cloud Platform and support data migration initiatives.

This is a fully-remote position, with work to be conducted during Easter Time Zone hours

Tasks include:

• Provide hands-on management, configuration, and administration of newly implemented Google Cloud Platform
• As needed, provide guidance and hands-on support with data migration, data pipelines (moving or re-pointing), dashboards, etc.
• Plan and execute the migration of data including mapping schemas, optimizing data structures, and ensuring data integrity and security throughout the transition.
• Develop and implement strategies for data ingestion, integration, transformation, and storage
• Collaborate with key stakeholders across IT, data science, and business teams to gather requirements and ensure the new platform meets all needs.
• Establish best practices for data governance, security, and compliance, ensuring adherence to relevant regulatory requirements.
• Design and implement monitoring and alerting for the new data platform to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Work with engineering teams to ensure scalability, performance optimization, and cost-efficiency in the cloud environment.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to internal teams throughout the migration and beyond.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in data architecture, cloud computing, and big data solutions

Must have:

• Background check must be conducted
• Relevant certification(s) in Google Cloud Platform
• 3+years' experience with cloud data platforms
• Experience with Google Cloud Dataflow and BigQuery

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in data engineering environments
• Experience with PII (Personally Identifiable Information) data security best practices
• Experience with other Google data tools (eg: AlloyDB, Datastream, DMS, etc.)
