Senior Cloud Administrator to support large cyber security initiative with client in the public sector

Location: Hamilton, ON

Duration: 3 month contract with possibility of extension.

Hybrid Work Model:

Alternate weekly between:

• 2 days in office (Tue & Wed)
• 3 days in office (Tue, Wed & Thu)

Overview

We’re looking for a highly technical Senior Cloud Administrator (10-15 years’ experience) to support a major cybersecurity initiative with our public sector client. This role will lead the management, optimization, and security of Azure, Microsoft 365, and Purview environments, ensuring systems operate securely, efficiently, and in alignment with strict compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Azure infrastructure services (VMs, networking, storage, identity).
• Manage all Microsoft cloud products, including O365, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and tenant-level configuration.
• Oversee Purview policies, data governance, and compliance controls.
• Support cybersecurity program activities, ensuring cloud platforms meet public sector security requirements.
• Monitor performance, availability, and security across Azure and Microsoft cloud services.
• Implement best practices in cloud configuration, automation, security, and access controls.
• Troubleshoot complex cloud-related issues and handle escalations.
• Support cloud migrations, upgrades, and continuous optimization.
• Maintain documentation for configurations, standards, and processes.

Requirements

• 10-15 years of technical experience in cloud administration.
• Deep hands-on experience with Azure and Microsoft cloud products (including Purview).
• Strong O365 administration and identity management expertise.
• Solid understanding of networking, security, and automation (PowerShell preferred).
• Experience supporting public sector or highly regulated environments is an asset.
• Relevant Microsoft/Azure certifications are preferred.
