Senior Business Analyst to lead the comprehensive documentation and business process mapping of a proprietary agricultural software suite (Remote)

Our Alberta-based enterprise client is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to lead the comprehensive documentation and business process mapping of a proprietary agricultural software suite.

Contract Duration: 6-months to start with a possibility of renewal

Working Model: 100% remote following MST hours of operation

Must-Haves:

• 7+ years as a Business Analyst with experience in software product documentation or application modernization projects
• Proven experience with business process mapping, and user story creation for complex, multi-module software systems
• Technical literacy with SQL Server.NET/C#/WPF codebases and ability to work alongside engineers to extract logic from legacy applications
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, and GitHub

Nice-to-Haves:

• Agriculture or Livestock industry experience
• Experience documenting hybrid-cloud or cloud migration architectures (Azure preferred)
• Familiarity with SQL Server replication, Always On Availability Groups, or multi-site database topologies
• Experience with DevExpress UI components or WPF application frameworks
• Knowledge of hardware integration patterns
• CBAP or equivalent BA certification
• Willingness to travel for occasional in-person meetings with management in Okotoks, AB.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct business process mapping across all livestock/ agricultural product modules through engineer walkthroughs, demo video review, and support team shadowing sessions
• Produce detailed user stories for all core workflows
• Create entity-relationship diagrams and data models
• Map all hardware integration points and document protocols, data formats, and connection methods
• Extract and document domain logic embedded in VB6 and C#/.NET code by pairing directly with the engineering team (elicit requirements from developers)
• Record all discovery sessions to preserve knowledge and reduce single-point-of-failure risk on the engineering team
• Deliver a complete Business Requirements Document (BRD), process flow diagrams, database documentation package, and risk register
