Description
ROLE:
Our GTA based, Municipal Government Client is looking for an experienced Business Systems Analyst to work with their Modernization Project team to document the requirements, present implementation options and, if required, take lead role during the implementation at Business Requirements & Analysis stage in collaboration. This Modernization Project is aimed to replace the 25-year-old legacy system and its interfaces with a modernized tool that will address increased operational demands, have enhanced functionality, and be compliant with the legislative and security requirements.
Duties:
- The Business Systems Analyst will work as a part project team to provide business and technical services in support of the project performing duties during Requirements Gathering and Analysis Stage (in SDLC) as per the following:
- Gather and document business and systems requirements and/or specifications. Validate any existing business and systems requirements and/or specifications. Identify opportunities for business process improvements in consultation with business and technical stakeholder.
- Document any changes to business and systems requirements and/or specifications, business procedures, processes, roles and responsibilities; validate the requirements and participate in fit-gap analysis for new product.
- Document functional and non-functional requirements, compose functional design specification and others supplementary specifications including screens mock-ups, report layouts, data flows, ETL Specifications, etc.
- Develop use case models, business processes 'as is' and 'to be', activity diagrams, and entity relationship diagrams by using Business Processes Modeling (BPM)/its Notation (BPMN)/ Unified Modeling Language (UML);
- Participate in project activities related to documenting the needs and requirements in areas of user experience (e.g. wireframes and UI/UX prototyping)
- Provide business and technical services to meet project objectives including business process reviews related to system architecture, application design, analysis, data work/ETL, development, testing, training and implementation.
- Prepare technical reports and assessments by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Communicate, collaborate and co-ordinate with management, business groups and the project team to facilitate and/or deliver project documentation and Knowledge Transfer.
- Conduct studies on the feasibility of integrating technology and processes to deliver a range of services to the client if required.
MUST HAVE:
- University degree in computer science or related discipline, and 7+ years of progressively more responsible experience working on large-scale information technology projects or the approved equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Experience in a government/public sector setting on modernization and replacement legacy system projects.
- 7+ years of working experience in similar or larger initiatives with extensive usage of Business Processes Modeling (BPM)/its Notation (BPMN)/ Unified Modeling Language (UML);
- 7+ years working experience in preparing project documentation such as business requirements, use cases, business rules repository, requirements traceability matrix, functional and non-functional requirements and specifications, context diagram, blueprints, architecture diagrams, supporting technical design specification documentation.
- 5+ years working experience in evaluating digital solutions, delivering jurisdictional scan documentation, feasibility studies, and evaluations, recommending architecture options, providing technical consultation on recommended solutions;
- Working experience in supporting new software product procurements (COTS) /RFx
- Working experience with technical and business teams in supporting Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Security Threat and Risk Assessment (STRA), Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA);
