Description
Our client is seeking a Senior Advisor to recommend and assist executive teams with AI Strategies, Data Products and Technology initiatives in a regulated industry environment
This is a part-time role (40 hours/month). Candidates must be located in Calgary and willing to be in-office
Must haves:
- 10+ years of experience in a Senior Advisory or Executive Consulting role with a focus on AI strategy/adoption, data products, or technology consulting in the energy or natural resource sector
- 5+ years of experience advising in the public sector or regulated industry clients.
- Knowledge of AI governance frameworks (NIST AI Risk Management Framework, ISO/IEC 42001, OSFI Guideline E-23, and the EU AI Act)
- Track record presenting to executive leadership and boards, with material the candidate authored or co-authored.
Strong nice to haves:
- Prior advisory engagement with a Canadian energy regulator or comparable provincial or federal regulatory body.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Copilot Studio in a governance context.
- Familiarity with public data products, including Information Hub, ST37, Pipeline Performance Report, BOS, and Water Use Report.
- Published or presented thought leadership on industry AI adoption or AI-ready data publishing.
Deliverables:
- Quarterly AI strategy advisory memo to the Director (4 over 12 months), covering directional shifts, sequencing recommendations, and risks to the AI portfolio.
- Quarterly Industry View briefing (4 over 12 months), each suitable for inclusion in ELT or Board materials.
- One annual AI positioning observation memo, comparing our client's progress and external posture against peer regulators and against industry AI adoption trajectories.
- Up to two ELT or Board presentation contributions per year, by mutual agreement.
- Major-revision review of the AI Acceptable Use Policy and AI Governance Strategy when issued by the Director, plus AISC agenda briefings as requested.
- Monthly status note to the Director summarizing hours used, work completed, and items in flight.
AI may be used in evaluating candidates.
