Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Senior DevOps Engineer with deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to design, build, and operate secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.

This role plays a critical enablement and leadership function within the organization. The hiring manager does not have deep GCP expertise and is specifically looking for a senior-level practitioner who can act as a technical authority, helping shape best practices, mentor team members, and support a Center of Excellence model.

The platform supports data, AI, and contact center initiatives, including a newly launched call center leveraging Vertex AI and GCP Contact Center AI (CCAI) components. You will work closely with engineering, data, architecture, and product teams to enable reliable delivery and operational excellence across shared platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure & Platform Engineering

  • Design, build, automate, and operate GCP infrastructure using Terraform across multiple environments
  • Administer and secure GCP services, including:
  • Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run
  • Cloud Storage, VPC, Cloud Load Balancing, Cloud NAT, Cloud DNS
  • IAM, Artifact Registry, Secret Manager, KMS
  • Architect and operate containerized workloads on GKE, including cluster management, networking, autoscaling, node pools, and release strategies

CI/CD & Automation

  • Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions for application and infrastructure deployments
  • Promote DevOps best practices such as GitOps, trunk-based development, automated testing, progressive delivery, and infrastructure testing

Observability, Reliability & Operations

  • Implement and operate observability solutions using Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, Trace, and Error Reporting
  • Build dashboards, alerts, and SLO/SLA monitoring
  • Participate in on-call rotations and incident response
  • Lead root-cause analysis, reliability improvements, disaster recovery, and backup strategies

Data, AI & Event-Driven Architectures

  • Enable event-driven architectures using Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, and Cloud Run
  • Support data and analytics pipelines, including BigQuery; optimize cost, performance, and reliability
  • Support AI and ML platforms, including Vertex AI, and provide platform services to the Center of Excellence
  • Support and integrate Contact Center AI (CCAI) solutions such as Dialogflow CX, Agent Assist, and CCAI Insights

Security, Governance & Enablement

  • Champion a security-first mindset, including IAM least privilege, service accounts, workload identity, organization policies, SCC, and vulnerability scanning
  • Collaborate with architecture and product teams on security, compliance, and governance standards
  • Contribute to platform standards, documentation, and runbooks
  • Mentor and train team members on GCP best practices and platform usage

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
  • 5-8 years of overall experience, including DevOps in cloud environments
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), GCP infrastructure and platform operations
  • Expertise with Terraform, GitHub, and GitHub Actions
  • Proficiency in Python for automation, tooling, and pipeline development
  • Experience with Bash scripting
  • Strong networking knowledge, including:
  • VPC design, subnets, peering, Private Service Connect
  • L7/L4 load balancers, firewalls, Cloud NAT
  • Solid experience with Kubernetes (GKE) and Docker

Nice to Have / Assets

  • Experience with Vertex AI and ML platform enablement
  • Experience with Contact Center technologies or GCP CCAI
  • Familiarity with BigQuery, Dataflow, and analytics platforms
  • Observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana
  • Experience with AWS, Snowflake, or Databricks
  • Experience with Istio/service mesh
  • OpenShift experience
  • Node.js or Java experience
