S.i. Systems enterprise manufacturing client is seeking an Onsite - Intermediate Data Analyst to develop dataflows and datasets using Power BI, Power Query, M, DAX & SQL


Onsite in North Vancouver, automall area - 5 days / week

12 month contract, 40 hours / week

Max hourly rate $43.16 / hour as a T4 temporary contractor - this is mandatory in order to be eligible to be under our Controlled Goods Clearance

Must be Canadian Citizen or have Permanent Residency AND have lived in Canada for the past 5 years without breaks - this is so that you can obtain Reliability Clearance


As a Data Analyst in the Enterprise Analytics team, you will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting complex data sets and transforming them into information that can be used by business teams to generate actionable insights. Your role will involve gathering information from various sources, analyzing patterns and trends, and presenting findings in a clear and concise manner.


MUST HAVE SKILLS

  • 4+ years of experience with business analytics, statistical analytics, KPI development and metrics reporting, preferably in a Program & Project Management environment with quantitative, financial or metric analysis on multiple large-scale data warehouses.
  • Experience with ground-up / full stack analytics solutions is an asset, including development of data sources, loading/transformation, analysis/modelling, reporting, and end user experiences.
  • Well-developed understanding of database structure, business object models, and large-scale data processing techniques.
  • Significant experience with Microsoft Power Query, M, DAX & SQL.
  • Proven experience working with data and databases, including working experience with programming languages and business intelligence tools such as SQL and Power BI, to build dataflows, datasets and analytical solutions and create visual insights and dashboards
  • Familiarity and understanding of KPI analysis, performance measurement, financial systems and project scheduling/controls systems
  • Demonstrated data analytic skills including proven ability to merge multiple data sources into meaningful information, review incomplete data, problem solve to fill in gaps and provide recommendation for meaningful solutions


NICE TO HAVE SKILLS

  • Experience with Azure Analytics Services, including Azure Analysis Services
  • Experience with the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate (Flow)


Duties/Accountabilities

  • Validate data sources, transformations, and analysis against reference data to ensure quality, accuracy, and completeness of derived reports.
  • Complete data discovery and mapping of shipyard enterprise applications.
  • Develops documentation of business requirements, data sources, infrastructure, and reports to provide clarity and context for data consumers throughout the shipyard.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker to create interactive dashboards and reports is an asset.
  • Develop dataflows and datasets using Power Query, M, DAX & SQL.
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying and analyzing data from relational databases is an asset.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or R for data analysis and manipulation is an asset.
  • Build dataset requirements, metrics, data/report definitions and establishes reporting governance processes.
  • Optimizes and standardizes all stages of the data analysis process, from extraction through to modelling & visualization.
  • Collects, validates, interprets, and organizes various types of data into relevant metrics and reports and/or summaries for designated business objectives.
  • Collaborates with and supports training and knowledge transfer to business end-users of data sources.
  • Acts as a Business Intelligence Subject Matter Expert (SME) by supporting team members in the use and interpretation of data and understanding of metrics and reporting requirements.
  • Understanding business objectives and providing ad hoc data extracts by working with business partners.
  • Effectively interpret diverse data sources and extract meaningful information while maintaining expert knowledge of all these data sources.
