Overview

In this role, you will provide hands-on support for Db2 and IMS environments, with a strong focus on CDC Connect and Imperva to ensure reliable data movement, strong security posture, and audit-ready compliance.

Beyond day-to-day activities, you will be involved with operational tasks, helping our team succeed through data-driven monitoring and automated workflows.

This role shapes how traditional mainframe operations evolve, combining deep technical expertise with forward-looking engineering to improve resilience, reduce risk, and accelerate delivery.

Key Responsibilities

CDC Connect Product Support

• Modify objects for addition/removal in CDC Connect Publisher configurations
• Execute and schedule refresh data jobs within Zeke scheduling system
• Investigate and troubleshoot incidents related to CDC operations
• Collect and provide diagnostic logs for product support escalations
• Monitor CDC agent performance and maintain operational stability

Imperva Security Management

• Review mainframe Db2/IMS schema change reports for security implications
• Collect and validate change tickets with appropriate justification documentation
• Identify anomalies and suspicious changes in database schema modifications
• Analyze failed Vulnerability Assessment (VA) scan results across mainframe production environments
• Determine remediation actions or document legitimate exclusions for failed scan objects

Required Qualifications

• Experience with mainframe systems (z/OS environment)
• Knowledge of Db2 and IMS database systems
• Understanding of CDC technologies and data replication concepts
• Familiarity with security vulnerability assessment tools (Imperva preferred)
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent documentation and communication abilities
• Experience with mainframe job scheduling systems

What you need to succeed:

• 5+ years knowledge of IMS and/or Db2 for z/OS (administration, performance, security etc.). Strong experience with Db2 utilities and IMS utilities
• 5+ years of JCL skills
• Proven experience with SQL query tuning and performance optimization
• Proficient in IMS application DBA tasks including DBD maintenance
• Experience with peripheral tools and technologies (IBM HP IMS utilities, Broadcom Db2 tools, CA-7, ZEKE, REXX etc.)
• Knowledge of Mainframe programming languages and MQ and/or Db2 Connect
• Scripting experience with REXX (Python scripting highly preferred)

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of Experience with RACF or ACF2
• Experience with Optim data masking and data archive tools
• Familiarity with insurance industry applications
• Experience with data warehouse environments
• Experience with mainframe modernization initiatives
• Proficiency with zDevOps tools including:

1. Zowe
2. IBM Db2 Admin Foundation
3. Ansible

• Experience with database automation and scripting and Python scripting

Education: Degree in Computer Science or Technology degree/diploma
