Junior Python Developer with GCP experience to design solutions with one of our major banking clients- 38584

Location: Toronto/Hybrid: 2 days in-office (will increase to 4 days in future)

Anchor days: Monday, Tuesday

Contract Duration: ASAP to 10/31/2026 (Possibility of extension)

Schedule Hours: 9am-5pm Monday-Friday; standard 37.5 hrs/week

Story Behind the Need

• Business group: Retail risk Analytics Team. Support risk stakeholders. Responsible for dev regulatory models.

Project: Retail risk regulatory models project.

• The Retail Risk Analytics Engineering (RRAE) team supports various stakeholders Global Risk Management (GRM) - Risk Models and Analytics Team, Regulatory Capital, IFRS9 provisioning & Enterprise stress Testing team in the implementation of regulatory and non-regulatory initiatives, utilizing both hybrid approach.
• The role will require to work on a project including implementation of new AIRB models for OSFI submission and also moving existing tech-stack to cloud.

Typical Day in Role:

• Work with BAs to understand requirements and design solution
• Provide hand-on development, optimizing and simplifying the codes and ensure code quality standards are met.
• Unit test code changes & help BAs and stakeholders in debugging issues
• Assist in task planning & estimation.
• Assist with production implementation of changes

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:

• 3-4 years of experience as Python developer
• 4 years of experience with SQL
• 2+ years of recent experience with GCP cloud
• 2+ years of Exp with Bitbucket and GIT
• 2 + years of Experience with scheduling tools like Airflow

Nice-To-Have Skills:

• Previous exp with retail risk models is highly preferred
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes is nice to have
• Previous recent experience with top 5 banks is highly preferred.

Degrees or certifications:

• Bachelor's degree or related work experience
• Certified with GCP or Python is nice to have

Best vs. Average Candidate:

The ideal candidate would have experience with retail risk models and strong development skills with Python and Python libraries. Recent exp with GCP and Airflow experience

2 Rounds of interviews

- 1st- Video Interview (1 hour) with HM and technical development manager: Technical based questions based on previous experience.

- 2nd (1 hour): Behavioral and Tech interview to gauge the team fit.
