Jr. SDET (3+ years) to join the Quality Engineering - Standards & Audits team for our payments client

Duration:12 Months

Location: Etobicoke (Flexible Hybrid)

Responsibilities
  • Conduct structured reviews of automation pull requests (PRs) in GitHub to ensure alignment with established QE standards
  • Audit UI and API automated test implementations for quality, coverage, reliability, and framework adherence
  • Assess compliance against internal benchmarks and document findings in tracking systems
  • Provide clear, direct, and constructive feedback to developers when standards are not met
  • Participate in meetings with development teams to communicate audit results and required improvements
  • Contribute to reporting on PR ratings, audit outcomes, and team-level compliance metrics
  • Collaborate with QE leadership to refine and evolve automation standards and governance practices
  • Support shift-left quality initiatives by reinforcing automation best practices across teams
Must Haves
  • 3+ years of experience as a:
  • Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), or
  • Quality Engineering Analyst / Automation-focused Quality Engineer
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing automation pull requests (PR reviews for automated tests)
  • Hands-on experience with UI and/or API automation testing
  • Exposure to automation tools such as:
  • Playwright (preferred)
  • Cucumber
  • RestAssured
  • Postman
  • Or similar frameworks
  • Experience working within GitHub, including pull request workflows
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to confidently explain compliance gaps to developers
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments
Nice to Haves
  • JavaScript proficiency (primary automation language environment)
  • Exposure to Java-based automation environments
  • Experience contributing to or maintaining scalable automation frameworks
  • Previous experience in a standards, governance, or audit-focused QE function
  • Experience working in financial services or regulated environments
  • Exposure to shift-left testing practices and quality metrics reporting
