IT Auditor to support large cybersecurity project with client in the public sector

Location: Hamilton, ON

Duration: 3 month contract with possibility of extension.

Hybrid Work Model:

Alternate weekly between:

• 2 days in office (Tue & Wed)
• 3 days in office (Tue, Wed & Thu)

35 hours/week

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities (D2D)

• Perform IT General Controls (ITGC) and Application Controls testing to support external financial audits.
• Conduct walkthroughs with client IT and Finance teams to understand systems and controls.
• Evaluate IT controls for compliance with SOX, ICFR, and audit standards.
• Review and test key reports, system interfaces, and automated controls used in financial reporting.
• Identify control gaps, document findings, and support remediation testing.
• Prepare audit workpapers in accordance with Big 4 assurance methodology.
• Work closely with financial auditors to integrate IT audit results into the overall audit plan.
• Support audits for public sector and municipal organizations, ensuring compliance with government frameworks and reporting requirements.

• Current IT Auditor working at KPMG, Deloitte, PwC, or EY.
• Experience in the Assurance Department (Audit / Compliance), not advisory or technology consulting.
• Strong exposure to Public Sector or Municipal clients.
• Hands-on experience testing ITGCs, Application Controls, and SOX/ICFR controls.
• Ability to document audit evidence clearly and follow Big 4 audit methodology standards.

• CISA, CPA, or CIA in progress or completed.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Workday.
• Familiarity with government audit frameworks or public sector compliance requirements.
