Contract Duration: 6 months
Schedule Hours: 9am-5pm Monday-Friday; standard 37.5 hrs/week (Possible OT)
Story Behind the Need
Business group: CIAM Security Engineering
Project: API Strategy project
The API Strategy project is focused on assessing how authentication APIs are currently consumed across channels and addressing fragmentation caused by multiple API versions in use.
The project requires dedicated capacity to assess current API usage, identify version gaps, and coordinate migrations to the latest API version across multiple teams. This work involves cross channel analysis and dependency management that cannot be absorbed by existing staff without impacting ongoing delivery. A contractor is needed to focus on this time bound effort and drive consistent API adoption.
Typical Day in Role:
* Lead activities for the API Strategy initiative within CIAM, establishing structure around API version visibility, work intake prioritization, dependency management, and coordination with Engineering and channel teams.
* Maintain a consolidated and current view of API versions in use across all channels, identifying adoption gaps, technical blockers, and operational constraints impacting migration to the latest API versions.
* Partner closely with channel owners, engineering teams, platform teams, and architecture functions to assess readiness, define migration paths, and drive alignment toward standardized API consumption.
* Establish governance and feedback mechanisms with key stakeholders to ensure API evolution, enhancements, and migrations align with business priorities, security requirements, and platform standards.
* Translate assessment outcomes into clear product objectives, milestones, and deliverables that enable channels to upgrade to the latest authentication API versions.
* Develop and maintain data-driven reporting on API adoption status, migration progress, risks, dependencies, and next steps for management-level stakeholders.
* Facilitate cross-functional forums and working sessions to address migration blockers, prioritize remediation activities, and ensure coordinated execution across impacted teams.
* Ensure alignment with Information Security, Risk, Compliance, and Architecture teams throughout API lifecycle decisions and migration activities.
* Maintain strong awareness of industry trends and best practices related to API management, CIAM integration patterns, and authentication modernization.
* Clearly define business objectives, problems being solved, and associated risks related to API version fragmentation and platform consistency.
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
1. 6+ years of experience in Product Management or equivalent roles (Business Analyst), preferably in platform, integration, migration or API-centric initiatives.
2. 4+ years of experience in Information Technology or Information Security environments
3. 4+ years of hands-on experience working with IAM or CIAM platforms
4. Strong understanding of API lifecycle management, versioning strategies, and enterprise integration challenges.
Nice-To-Have Skills:
1. Experience working in the Banking or Financial Services sector.
2. Familiarity with API governance, API gateways, or enterprise integration platforms.
3. Experience preparing executive-level presentations and reporting for senior leadership.
4. Knowledge of cloud-based environments such as Azure, GCP, or AWS, particularly in relation to API deployment and IAM services.
5. Exposure to large-scale platform modernization or standardization initiatives.
6. Previous exposure to Regulatory, Risk, Compliance, or Audit functions within large enterprise organizations.
7. Solid understanding of financial principles within large enterprises, including cost tracking and prioritization.
Soft Skills Required:
* Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineering teams, business channels, and control functions.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to present complex technical topics to non-technical audiences.
* Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple dependencies and parallel workstreams.
* Comfortable operating in complex, evolving environments with changing priorities.
