Intermediate Azure Cloud DevOps Engineer using Python to develop enhancements for pipeline volume data ingestion

Our large Oil & Gas industry client is seeking an Intermediate Azure Cloud DevOps Engineer using Python to develop enhancements for pipeline volume data ingestion.

This is an initial 6-month contract with a possibility of extension. The successful candidate will be based in Calgary and aligned to working full-time onsite in Downtown Calgary.

Must-Haves:

• 3+ years' of proven experience in Azure DevOps/ Cloud Engineering roles
• 3+ years' of strong Python development and scripting experience
• DevOps experience that includes building and managing CI/CD pipelines, specifically with GitHub, GitHub Actions, and IaC (Terraform)
• 3+ years' hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and enterprise cloud standards, including:
• App Service
• PostgreSQL and/or Cloud databases
• Cloud storage
• Azure Key Vault and managed identities
• Logic Apps and Function Apps
• SharePoint Integration
• Experience with APIs, ETL and SQL
• Experience supporting production‑critical scheduled data products

Nice-to-Haves:

• Power Platform experience (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse)
• Experience with AI/LLM- assisted extraction and automation
• Strong understanding of Azure governance and security models
• Ability to design guardrails and reusable patterns, not just one-off solutions

Role Overview:

• Design and implement enterprise-standard, governed citizen-development Azure environments, and participate in supporting citizen-built solutions to meet security, compliance, and supportability requirements in partnership with IT and Cybersecurity business units.
• Assume ownership and deliver enhancements for the pipeline volume data ingestion Python product -modernizing execution into Azure-hosted jobs with monitoring/alerting and secure HTTPS endpoints.
• Support and enhance an existing PDF digitization/extraction tool (e.g., invoices/statements) and its Azure-based ingestion pipelines and databases to reliably extract, validate, and persist structured data for enterprise use.
