Int. Network Engineer with Telecommunications industry experience to design, implement, and maintain the organization's network infrastructure. - 009040


Duration: 6 months

Location: Remote (Infrequent visits to Toronto or Mississauga Office)

Working Hours: 3.30pm - 11.00pm Eastern Time Zone


As an Intermediate Network Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's network infrastructure. You will ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability of network systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams to support business operations and technology initiatives.


Responsibilities:

• Network Design & Implementation: Assist in the planning and deployment of LAN/WAN architectures, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems.

• Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve issues using diagnostic tools and techniques.

• Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain network security protocols, including firewalls, VPNs, and access controls, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards.

• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of network configurations, diagrams, and procedures.

• Collaboration: Work closely with system administrators, cybersecurity teams, and external vendors to support infrastructure projects and resolve complex issues.

• Upgrades & Maintenance: Perform firmware updates, hardware replacements, and capacity planning to ensure network scalability and reliability.

• Support: Provide Tier 2/3 support for escalated network-related incidents and service requests.


Must haves:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• 3-5 years of experience in network engineering or administration.

• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP).

• Experience with enterprise-grade networking equipment (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet).

• Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Wireshark).

• Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.


Nice to Have:

• Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent.

• Experience with cloud networking (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP).

• Knowledge of SD-WAN, VoIP, and network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python scripting).
