Financial / Accounting Analyst to support large cybersecurity project with client in public sector

Location: Hamilton, ON

Duration: 3-4 month contract with possibility of extension.

Hybrid Work Model:

Alternate weekly between:

• 2 days in office (Tue & Wed)
• 3 days in office (Tue, Wed & Thu)

Overview

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Financial / Accounting Analyst to support day‑to‑day finance operations. This role will work heavily in Excel, support reconciliations, and partner with accounting on AR, AP, and budgeting activities in a fast‑paced environment.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities (D2D)

• Work extensively in Excel to analyze, manipulate, and validate mid‑size datasets
• Build and maintain spreadsheets using advanced Excel formulas (lookup functions, pivot tables, etc.)
• Perform data cleansing and validation to ensure accuracy and consistency
• Support financial modeling and basic analysis within Excel
• Assist with account reconciliations and variance analysis
• Support end‑to‑end Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) processes
• Assist with budget tracking and basic budget preparation activities
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet reporting timelines
• Operate efficiently in a fast‑paced environment with shifting priorities

Must‑Haves

• Strong proficiency in Excel, including advanced formulas
• Experience working with mid‑size datasets in Excel
• Understanding of financial modeling within an Excel environment
• Experience with data cleansing and reconciliation
• Experience in end‑to‑end AR and AP processes
• Basic understanding of budgeting processes
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
