Join a high-performing DBA team supporting mission-critical banking platforms running on Azure SQL. This role focuses on large-scale (40TB+) performance optimization, query tuning, and troubleshooting for enterprise-grade databases. The work directly impacts application performance for trading and customer-facing systems across the banking network. The engagement also offers strong potential for contract extension or full-time conversion within a well-established technology group.

Must Haves

• 10+ years as an Senior/Expert DBA specializing in Azure SQL performance and optimization
• Proven experience managing large-scale databases (40TB+) within enterprise banking environments
• Deep expertise in Azure SQL PaaS including Query Store, execution plans, and T-SQL performance tuning
• Strong understanding of DTU/vCore models, Hyperscale architecture, and scaling strategies
• Education: Relevant post-secondary degree in computer science or related field

Nice to Have

• Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights
• Knowledge of Azure SQL security features including auditing, threat detection, and managed identities
• Experience with disaster recovery and geo-replication strategies
• Understanding of database access control and security best practices
• Exposure to Dynatrace for performance monitoring

Responsibilities

• Monitor database performance and identify optimization opportunities
• Diagnose and resolve complex query and workload performance issues
• Perform detailed analysis using Query Store and execution plans
• Collaborate with development teams to optimize application-database interactions
• Manage capacity planning and scaling of large Azure SQL environments
• Deliver root cause analysis for production incidents and stability initiatives
• Support performance optimization projects improving query efficiency and resource utilization
