Our valued defense client is seeking a Engineering Transformation Lead (AI / Digital Engineering) to lead the evaluation and implementation of modern engineering capabilities!

Permanent full-time opportunity in Ottawa, ON or Calgary, AB. 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday.

As the successful candidate, you will improve how engineering gets done - from the tools and processes teams rely on, to how capabilities like AI and digital engineering are embedded into day-to-day execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with senior engineering and program leadership to identify operational gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Translate business priorities into clear, actionable roadmaps across tools, workflows, and AI adoption
  • Lead the evaluation and implementation of modern engineering capabilities, including AI/ML, MBSE, digital engineering tools, and cloud-based platforms.
  • Manage and mentor a team of 4-5 engineers focused on tooling, analytics, and process improvement.
  • Provide direction, prioritize work, and ensure alignment with the highest-value initiatives, while remaining hands-on when needed.
  • Develop and scale a structured approach to engineering training - blending internal knowledge, external platforms, and hands-on learning. Support engineers in adopting new tools, workflows, and ways of working.

Must Have Skills:

  • 3+ years in a technical leadership, team lead, or lead engineer (systems engineer) capacity
  • Proven experience partnering with senior leadership to drive process and technology change
  • Background in engineering environments (e.g., aerospace, defense, complex systems, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of engineering workflows and disciplined development approaches (Agile, iterative delivery, etc.)
  • Experience working with or around:
  • Modern engineering tools and processes such as digital twins, MBSE, Artificial Intelligence, and Gen AI
  • DevOps / CI/CD practices
  • Engineering and collaboration tools (JIRA/RTC, Confluence, PDMLink or similar)
  • Business intelligence / analytics tools (e.g., Power BI or equivalent)
