Duration: 1 year from start date

Location: Downtown Toronto; Hybrid - primarily remote, with onsite presence required once per month

Project Context: The team is looking to automate manual processes to reduce overtime, improve efficiency, and meet client demands more consistently.

The candidate must have strong hands-on experience in automation and scripting. The team can provide platform-specific guidance, but the contractor must be capable of independently designing and delivering automation solutions.

Team & Stakeholders

Primary Stakeholders: Primarily collaborating with Jeff Johnson and members of the Sun Life team.

Team Size & Environment: Team of 7. Highly collaborative, with a mix of independent work and mentoring junior team members. Weekly team meetings to review progress and priorities.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Automation Engineer to design, develop, and implement automation solutions for our enterprise data integration and platform management infrastructure. This contractor will work with our team to automate critical operational processes across multiple vendor platforms, ensuring reliability, compliance, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Automation Development

• Design and develop automated solutions for continuous metrics extraction and reporting across enterprise platforms
• Develop scripts for access auditing, compliance monitoring, and reporting
• Build automation workflows for service startup, shutdown, and restart procedures to support patching initiatives

Infrastructure Management

• Automate SSL certificate rotation and password rotation processes
• Create or enhance self-service automation capabilities to reduce manual operational overhead

Integration & Orchestration

• Utilize Jenkins for continuous integration and deployment pipelines
• Develop API integrations with Informatica and IBM platforms
• Work with CDD and other DevOps tools to orchestrate complex workflows

Documentation & Collaboration

• Document automation processes, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures
• Collaborate with platform administrators and security teams
• Provide runbooks and operational guidance for supported automation

Required Qualifications & Technical Competencies

5+ years of DevOps or platform automation engineering experience

Programming & Scripting

Advanced proficiency in Python scripting and automation

Knowledge of PowerShell development

Strong knowledge of shell scripting and command-line utilities (Linux and Windows)

DevOps Tools & CI/CD

Hands-on experience with Jenkins or similar CI/CD platforms for pipeline configuration

Experience with CDD or similar orchestration tools

Familiarity with version control systems (Git)

Integration & APIs

Demonstrated expertise integrating with REST/SOAP APIs

RESTful API development and integration experience

Infrastructure & Security

Background in Windows and Linux system administration

Service orchestration and monitoring knowledge

Security automation and compliance automation experience

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field

Preferred Qualifications:

1.Experience with:

· Informatica IDMC, CDIPC, or MDM

· IBM InfoSphere DataStage

2.Background in financial services or large enterprise environments
