Business Systems Consultant - 5486

Duration: 12 months to start

Location: Toronto, as need basis (periodic collaborative sessions in downtown Toronto)

The Business Systems Consultant has deep knowledge of a wide variety of business concepts, practices, and procedures as they relate to IT and general operations. They rely on their expertise, experience, and judgment to plan and achieve goals, and to do a variety of tasks. The Business Systems Consultant conducts needs analysis, writes requirements/user stories and detailed documentation for systems integration and data flows, collaborates with others, and supports the team to increase productivity and reduce costs.

What will you do?

• Drive the analysis of current state legacy systems and modernization options
• Understand the big picture to define business capabilities and go forward roadmap
• Contribute to the development of a comprehensive IT strategy and roadmap
• Analyze and define user needs and translate them into detailed requirements/epics/user stories/data requirements/data mapping documents
• Analyze and document how systems, processes, procedures, and clients will be impacted by future development with a focus on the links between processes, systems and data throughout the organization
• Create and/or review and provide comments on business and technical documentation
• Support business on the roll-out of what has been developed with a focus on end-to-end validation
• Collaborate with multiple stakeholders, influencing and sharing recommendations

What do you need to succeed?

• 5 to 10 years of progressive experience as a Business & Systems Analyst with both waterfall and agile methodologies.
• Experience supporting variable annuities and HNW life insurance
• Experience in wealth management, life insurance or related financial services industry
• Understanding of wealth and individual life insurance products (variable annuities, mutual funds) is a plus
• Experience in IT strategy and digital transformation initiatives
• Experienced in transformational system work, moving from legacy system to modern system including systems and data integration work
• Experience working with client facing technologies/digital engagement platforms.
• Knowledge of Design Thinking principles.
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong understanding of privacy, compliance, control, and security requirements.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and simply both complex business and technical concepts and align organization on decisions.
• Ability to work and demonstrate cooperation in a matrixed team environment.
• Comfortable working in ambiguous environments.
• University degree in business or technology or equivalent experience.
