*Contract to Perm*- ServiceNow Discovery Administrator with scripting (PowerShell/JavaScript) experience to support one of our major banking clients-

Location: Toronto/Mississauga/Scarborough- Hybrid (2 Days a Week on site)

First 2 Months will be in Scarborough then can go to either Toronto or Mississauga offices

Duration: 6 Months (Must be convert perm after)

Hours: 37.5 Hours per week

Annual Salary: 97k with 10% Bonus

Story Behind the Need

• Business group: Bank’s Global Technology Services (GTS) Service Assets & Configuration Management department is responsible for the management of the Bank’s hardware IT assets throughout their lifecycle from acquisition to retirement. We are also responsible for the creation of standard IT Asset Management (ITAM) processes and oversight for adherence to the processes from our global partners.
• Project: Manage the ServiceNow Discovery tool to automatically map IT assets and update the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) across all of the geographies where the bank operates. Key responsibilities include configuring discovery infrastructure, managing schedules and credentials, developing and maintaining discovery patterns for on-premises and cloud resources (desirable), troubleshooting discovery issues, support CMDB data accuracy, and collaborating with internal BNS teams and external vendors to implement Discovery. This role requires strong technical skills in networking, server administration, scripting, and a deep understanding of IT infrastructure and the ServiceNow platform.
• This role sits between a Discovery Administrator and a Discovery Developer, ideal for candidates who want to grow into development-level responsibilities.

Typical Day in Role:

• Configure and Manage Discovery Infrastructure: Set up, manage, and maintain mid-servers, schedules, credentials, and probes to discover IT assets.
• Develop and Maintain Patterns (desirable): Create and customize Discovery Patterns to identify and classify Configuration Items (CIs) and their relationships across various IT environments, including cloud resources.
• Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Investigate and resolve discovery errors, such as those related to permissions, access, or probe\patten failures, and address issues with discovery schedules and data discrepancies.
• Support CMDB Accuracy: Monitor and ensure the discovery process effectively populates the CMDB with accurate and complete information on servers, applications, other devices, and software. à rescanning IT assets
• Monitor and Report: Create and maintain dashboards and reports to monitor the health, performance, and completion of discovery jobs.
• Collaborate with IT Teams: Work closely with internal BNS teams (network, security, application teams and others) to ensure correct access, permissions, and to support the accuracy of discovered data.
• Governance and Documentation: Develop and maintain governance processes, policies, and procedures to ensure the integrity and reliability of the Discovery solution.

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:

1) 5+ years of experience with ServiceNow Discovery and CMDB configuration

2) 3+ years’ experience in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, JavaScript) and experience with APIs for integrations.

3) Understanding of IT infrastructure topologies, including servers (Windows/Linux), networks, and applications and how it would integrate into Discovery

4) Experience with cloud resource discovery and management (GCP and Azure preferred)

5) Networking and Security: Knowledge of authentication, user policies, and permissions to ensure secure access for discovery probes, sensors and patterns to validate data points that integrate into Discovery

Nice-To-Have Skills:

1) Service Mapping & Software Asset Management experience

2) ITIL Framework: Familiarity with ITIL, ITSM processes, especially related to Configuration Management.

3) Bilingual in Spanish

4) Experience in FI/banking

Education:

Bachelor’s / College education in relevant field

Best VS. Average Candidate:

The ideal candidate can diagnose, troubleshoot, and fix discovery issues end-to-end, communicates clearly, and has strong practical experience with ServiceNow Discovery in large environments.

1st - panel interview (3 members) - 1 hour - technical scenario-based questions (e.g. provide certain fields, how to define a schedule for a device) and they have to provide a solution/talk through it
