*Contract to Perm*- Intermediate and Senior ServiceNow Developer with expertise in Service Mapping, Configuration Management and Service Relationships- 39584/39586
Location: Remote- If in Toronto/Hybrid (2 days a week on site)
Duration: 6 Months (Must Convert to Perm)
Hours: 37.5 Hours Per Week
FTE Salary: ~$100K - flexible depending on level and qualifications - really looking for contractors to convert
Story Behind the Need
Business group: GTEP - Service Support - Service Design/ Service Level Management - We’re assembling a new Service Management Technology team to build and evolve Service Mapping, CMDB integrity, and service‑aware operations on the ServiceNow platform.
We’re looking for a Senior ServiceNow Developer / Development Lead to drive hands‑on implementation, set technical standards, and integrate Service Mapping outputs across ITOM/ITSM/ITBM. This role will lead by example (coding/scripting), mentor a mid-level developer, and serve as the go‑to technical owner for Service Mapping and CSDM governance.
Role #1
• Design, develop, and maintain Service Mapping definitions/patterns to accurately model business services and upstream/downstream dependencies.
• Own the CI relationship model from infrastructure and applications to business services; collaborate with CMDB/Discovery teams to ensure data quality meets mapping requirements.
• Implement and maintain CSDM across ITOM, ITSM, ITBM, and related modules; align with platform standards and security best practices.
• Integrate service mapping outputs with Incident, Change, Problem, Event Management, and ITBM for service‑aware reporting, automation, and operational intelligence.
• Troubleshoot & optimize mapping performance, accuracy, and CI relationships; lead root‑cause analysis for discovery/mapping issues.
• Set coding standards and development guardrails; conduct design/code reviews and mentor junior developers.
• Document patterns, data models, configurations, and integrations per IT governance.
• Stay current with ServiceNow releases and ITOM innovations; propose continuous improvements and roadmap initiatives.

• Configure and maintain Service Mapping patterns and CI relationships to business services.
• Partner with CMDB/Discovery to resolve data gaps and mapping accuracy issues.
• Contribute to CSDM adoption across ITOM/ITSM/ITBM.
• Build/maintain platform scripts (Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, Flow Designer).
• Support integrations to downstream processes and reports (Incident, Change, Problem, Event).
• Participate in peer reviews and follow coding standards and governance.
• Produce clear technical documentation for patterns and data models.

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
1) 5-10 years of development experience
2) 1-5 years of ServiceNow development experience, including ITOM/Service Mapping expertise and security best practices and development standards in ServiceNow
3) 1-5 years’ proven experience with Service Mapping, Discovery, and ITOM modules
4) Experience with Common Service Data Model implementation and governance, with demonstrated understanding of CMDB principles, CI relationships, and service-oriented architecture
5) 1-5 years of experience with ITSM processes (Incident, Problem, Change, Request Management)
6) 1-5 years’ hands-on experience with ServiceNow scripting (Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, Flow Designer, etc).
Nice-To-Have Skills:
1) Experience with Service Event Management
2) ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist in ITOM or related modules preferred
3) Expertise integration ServiceNow with external monitoring, asset and discovery tools.
4) Understanding of service-level metrics, SLOs/SLIs, SLAs and how they tie to service mapping.
5) Familiarity with DevOps pipelines for ServiceNow and change control automation.
6) Experience with cloud-based services and hybrid IT environments.
7) Experience in Fintech
Education:
Bachelor’s in technical field or relevant experience
ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist in ITOM or related modules preferred
Best VS. Average Candidate:
• Highly seasoned developer with deep hands-on ServiceNow Service Mapping, Discovery, ITOM, and CSDM implementation experience
• Demonstrates ability to lead technical direction, set coding standards, and mentor junior developers while still delivering high‑quality hands‑on work
• Proactively identifies service model gaps, proposes architectural improvements, and understands the “why” behind mapping decisions
• Strong communicator capable of working with senior stakeholders, explaining complex service relationships and CMDB impacts
• Shows initiative and requires minimal hand-holding, able to navigate ambiguity in a new and evolving team
• Demonstrated results in integrating mapping outputs with broader ITSM/ITOM modules and service‑aware workflows
