Position: Assistant Director of Engineering

Located in the heart of Laval, the Sheraton is one of the region’s most recognized hotel destinations. As Assistant Director of Engineering, you support the Director in the day-to-day management of the building, grounds and physical facilities. You play an active, hands-on role while ensuring operational follow-up, site safety and team support.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Actively participate in performing various maintenance and repair tasks (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, masonry, etc.) while supervising and coordinating employees
- Analyze and resolve issues related to general building maintenance and equipment
- Perform industrial mechanical work on equipment: refrigeration, air conditioning and heating systems (HVAC‑R)
- Participate in preventive maintenance programs and inspections of all equipment and guest rooms
- Monitor any hazardous or questionable situations that could endanger guests, colleagues or hotel safety and respond accordingly
- Know and apply hotel standards and respond to various building-related requests
- Supervise the maintenance technician team and participate in department schedule planning
- Follow up with various service providers in both French and English
- Participate in budget planning and timelines
- Perform any other related duties required for the smooth operation of the hotel
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Qualities: Leadership, resourcefulness and creativity, sense of responsibility, autonomy, organizational skills, stress tolerance, sense of urgency
Experience and training: Vocational DEP in maintenance mechanics (minimum), general knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, building mechanics and HVAC, minimum of three (3) years of experience in a similar position. Availability for flexible schedules and emergency situations required.
