Position Description:



There is a position available for an Electrician/Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) with School District No. 60. Applications must be completed online and will be accepted until noon, April 30, 2025.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, The Electrician/HVAC is responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of electrical/HVAC services and related equipment within School District facilities and grounds.

Hours of work: (8) hrs per day, five (5) days per week Duties to Commence: As soon as possible after closing Work Year Base: Twelve (12) months per year Commencing Salary : $38.47/hr.

Duties:
  • Plans own workday based on varying priorities between electrical and HVAC duties.
  • Repairs, replaces, tests, installs and maintains electrical equipment.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on power distributing systems, heating and cooling controls, direct digital controls and fire alarm systems.
  • Operates, troubleshoots and routinely maintains heating systems, boilers, cooling plant equipment, HVAC systems and emergency diesel/natural gas generators.
  • Responsible for maintaining/adjusting Direct Digital Controls to maintain acceptable building environment, within the District Energy Management Strategies.
  • Assists Operations Manager in the resolution of problems related to building systems.
  • Monitors and replenishes supplies as needed for electrical and HVAC trades.
  • Ensures tools, equipment and assigned vehicles are in good working order (for example pre-trip inspection)
  • Follows proper safety rules and standards by ensuring worksite is safe and secure, that equipment and vehicle are operated according to set standards.
  • Ensures the safe handling of hazardous materials (WHMIS) and the safe use and operation of equipment and hand tools.
  • Responsible for the backup and maintenance of HVAC databases.
  • Electrician operates HVAC systems by the use of several computer programs.
  • Remains current with changing technology, codes and methods.
  • Applies safe work practices at all times and reports unsafe conditions.
  • Performs other job related duties as directed by the Operations Manager.


  • Qualifications and Attributes:
    • Interprovincial Red Seal Certified Electrician
    • Field Services Representative License preferred
    • Class 5 drivers licence
    • Acceptable Drivers Abstract
    • WHMIS Certificate and other online safety training provided by the District to be completed within the probationary period
    • Other applicable safety training and/or certifications as provided by the District to be completed as needed
    • Must be able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search conducted by the District prior to starting employment
    • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to be an integral part of a team
    • Must be well organized
    • Able to work independently and set priorities
