MANAGER of HUMAN RESOURCES

Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of Human Resources Management including but not limited to; labour management/relations, recruitment, staffing, collective agreement interpretation, health, safety and wellness. This excluded position will be a challenging and rewarding opportunity. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists with employee and labour relations matters, including conducting investigations, addressing grievances, managing performance issues, and following progressive discipline
- Serve as a liaison with union representatives and support collective bargaining preparations and negotiations
- Provides support to employees and management in staffing, recruitment, onboarding, seniority, attendance management and leave management
- Oversight for the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) management
- Ensure continuous improvement of HR policies, procedures, and systems in line with strategic goals
- Ensures that all Human Resources processes are followed in accordance with Collective Agreements and Board Administrative Procedures and Policies
- Prepares administrative contracts, appointment letters and all staffing changes in HRIS
- Evaluates teacher's qualifications and experience and advises Payroll
- Provides guidance and responds to employee inquiries
- Supports the HR representative responsible for the oversight of the District OHS program and provides advice on workplace safety, employee wellness, and programs such as return to work programs
- Responds to inquiries from WVTA and WVMEA as required
- Serves as co-chair in the Local and Provincial Joint Job Evaluation Committee, coordinates meetings, ensures all procedures are followed in accordance with the Terms of Reference agreed to processes
- Serves as co-chair of District and Local Health and Safety Committee, coordinates meetings, ensures mandate of Committee is followed
- Represent the HR department on district-wide committees and special projects
- Performs other duties related to the HR position
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- A degree or diploma in Human Resources or Labour Relations Management, plus 5 years experience in Human Resources Management, preferably in the education section, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Supervisory experience
- Experience administering collective agreements, a good knowledge of employment and industrial relations law
- Knowledge of health and safety programs
- An excellent working knowledge of, and comfort with computer applications, including Human Resources Integrated Systems, Microsoft Office
- An understanding of payroll and accounting procedures would be an asset
- Superior interpersonal skills, communication skills (both oral and written), and conflict resolution skills
- Strong organization and planning skills
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively with a variety of members and stakeholders of the District

The annual salary for this position ranges from $99,165 to $123,956. Length of experience and qualifications will be taken into consideration.
