Reports to the Carpentry Foreman/Carpentry Leadhand, and performs a variety of construction, repair and maintenance duties in district facilities.
POSTING DETAILS
- Position - Trades Certified Carpenter
- Start Date - March 2, 2026.
- Employment - Permanent, Full-time (40 hrs/wk)
- Hours - Monday to Friday (7:30am to 4:00pm)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs a variety of carpentry duties including maintenance, repairs and renovation work.
- Performs layout, assembly and installation of woodwork projects. -
- Inspects school gym equipment such as climbing apparatus, basketball hoops, bleachers, etc. -
- Prioritizes, organizes and schedules carpentry work orders for the assigned area. -
- Operates tools and equipment of the trade. -
- Respond to emergency situations as required. -
- Inspects (daily) and operates a service vehicle. -
- Performs other assigned comparable duties which are within the scope of knowledge, skills and abilities required by this class specification.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of Grade 12.
- Apprenticeship and/or Trades Qualification Certificate - Carpentry.
- Valid B.C. Driver’s License.
- Ability to perform a variety of skilled carpentry tasks in the construction and maintenance of school district facilities.
- Thorough and current knowledge of the standards, practices, regulations, methods, tools and equipment of the trade.
- Ability to understand and effectively carry out general oral and written instructions with minimum of supervision.
- Skill in the use of tools of the trade.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work sketches.
- Ability to communicate effectively using courtesy and tact in the explanation and exchange of information.
- Ability to determine, judge and select appropriate course of action within limits of established methods and procedures.
- Physical ability to perform the required duties
