Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520 (based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement)

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:
- extensive academic training, professional preparation and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment at the middle school level
- knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment
- appropriate professional preparation in the teaching of Home Economics (a university teaching major, its equivalent, or experience directly related to the teaching position)
- demonstrated competence in teaching all aspects of a Home Economics Program at the Middle School level, using highly successful instructional strategies that engage and motivate Middle School students
- demonstrated understanding the Foods and Nutrition Curriculum
- demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction for a variety of developmental stages and ability levels
- demonstrated sensitivity, awareness and understanding of adolescent development and enthusiasm for working and developing positive relationships with Middle School age students
- demonstrated ability to incorporate a wide range of effective classroom management strategies which respect and maintain the dignity of young adolescents
- demonstrated ability to identify, work with, and assist students who are experiencing difficulties
- an exemplary work ethic with a proven ability to work as an effective team member in an educational setting
- consistently well organized and capable of being flexible to meet the changing demands of students at the middle school level
- demonstrated ability in utilizing inquiry based and hands-on instructional activities to enhance student learning and engagement in Home Economics
- demonstrated ability to be a positive communicator with parents, students, and colleagues
- demonstrated clarity about what curricular and meta-curricular skills and knowledge are to be learned by students in each course
- demonstrated knowledge and application of contemporary individual and social learning theory and of adolescent development theory
- demonstrated ability to suitably employ a variety of instructional strategies to achieve desired learning outcomes
- demonstrated ability to set and clarify learning standards and to establish effective classroom procedures and relationships
- demonstrated ability to devise a variety of assessment processes that effectively allow students to demonstrate what they know
- demonstrated desire and ability to collaborate with other professionals to contribute to general school effectiveness and to individual student learning
- demonstrated ability to involve parents and the community to support and expand student learning
