Our expectations

Under the direction of the Transportation Supervisor, the Transportation Coordinator supports the transportation operations through efficient Load planning, Routing and coordination of freight movement to and from the Regional Distribution Centers (RDC) out to the stores. The incumbent will work in collaboration with the Operations team to keep business flowing in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. This person also works with stores, vendors, and carriers to resolve issues on a regular basis with a key focus on customer service to ensure customer order requirements are met and delivered on time.

Your role

  • Provide effective support to internal and external customers, working in collaboration to ensure completion of work in a safe, efficient, and accurate manner
  • Maintain and develop carrier relationships and scheduling to meet operational targets; ensure the routing of loads and scheduling of third-party carriers
  • Work collaboratively with the distribution center (DC) Operations team on load planning to ensure all deliveries are made on time; ensure that customers are notified if there are delays
  • Work with stores, vendors, carriers, and the DC Operations team to ensure transportation questions, concerns, issues, and plans are addressed and communicated effectively
  • Facilitate all transportation-related documents to ensure required paperwork is completed accurately and that appropriate documentation, including BOLs, packing slips, load sheets, and routing sheets, is maintained
  • Prepare, audit and submit all transportation-related invoice processes-track BOLs, validate invoices for accuracy, submit them for payment and monthly financial accruals
  • Ensure all work is conducted according to health and safety policies and legislation
  • Troubleshoot transportation issues and concerns by working directly with carriers
  • Monitor and track Transportation Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
  • Maintain and update weekly outbound delivery forecast
  • Coordinate trailer/yard organization with the Operations team
  • Monitor individual and shared team Email Inbox’s and respond in a timely manner
  • Appropriately respond to calls and emails from stores, carriers and the Operations team
  • Perform other duties as required

The qualifications we are looking for

  • Post-secondary education in transportation or supply chain (preferred) or equivalent industry experience
  • One to three years of experience in transportation and/or supply chain
  • Familiarity with distribution center operations
  • Good interpersonal skills to foster a team-oriented work environment, organizational and time management skills
  • Analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex problems; initiative and creative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time in a fast paced/stressful environment
  • Familiarity with Ministry of Transportation (MTO) regulations
  • Transportation dispatch and fleet management experience (an asset)
  • CITT (CCLP) certification completed or underway (an asset)
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word and Excel) and analyzing datas
  • Demonstrated flexibility; ability to readily adapt to change and equate change with opportunity
