Overview
The Manager, Learning & Development (L&D) is responsible for the design, delivery, and oversight of employee training programs across RONA’s corporate stores and support functions. Reporting to the Senior Director, Talent, Culture and Learning, this role manages a team of Senior Training Advisors and a Senior Instructional Designer. The Manager ensures training initiatives are prioritized and executed effectively, balancing departmental requests with corporate priorities such as new system implementations, mandatory training, and enterprise-wide initiatives. The role also establishes and enforces training governance to ensure consistency, compliance, and alignment across all learning activities.
Key Responsibilities
Training Strategy & Prioritization

Manage and prioritize training requests from business units while aligning with corporate projects and compliance requirements.

Lead the annual Spring readiness strategy, roll-out and coordination, ensuring employees are equipped with the product knowledge and customer service skills needed for peak season.

Ensure strong focus on product knowledge and customer service training to support frontline excellence.

Own the corporate training programs, policies, and calendar.
Program Design & Delivery

Oversee the design, curation, and implementation of technical and non-technical training programs.

Contribute directly to the design and roll-out of select high-impact training initiatives, ensuring quality and consistency.

Maintain a central library of learning resources and ensure content quality, consistency, and alignment with business needs.

Support the development of structured learning paths that promote continuous employee growth.
Partnerships & Vendor Management

Partner with key internal and external stakeholders to identify learning needs and deliver effective solutions.

Manage vendor relationships to source and implement relevant training programs and digital content.

Support internal customers by providing tools, templates, and best practices to strengthen training delivery.
Learning Operations & Continuous Improvement

Oversee multiple learning systems and platforms, including Workday Learning and Axonify to ensure smooth delivery, reporting, and learner experience.

Track and analyze training metrics to measure impact, compliance, and business alignment.

Introduce innovative learning methods and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Business, or related field required; Master’s degree an asset.

7-10 years of progressive experience in Learning & Development.

Proven experience leading a team of L&D professionals.

Advanced project management skills; able to lead complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives, and demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities.

Strong knowledge of learning systems and platforms, digital learning technologies, and emerging trends.

Track record of designing and delivering impactful training programs.

Familiarity with learning design methodologies with a focus on micro-learning and adult learning principles.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to link training outcomes to business KPIs.

Excellent communication in French and in English, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, including vendor management.
