Job description

Under the supervision of the skid and systems drawing room coordinator, the designer is responsible for producing 2D and 3D drawings of the systems to be produced and installed by the Qualtech team. He/she will seek out the optimum configuration, taking into account technical and environmental constraints, as well as any instructions given by the customer. They are responsible for ensuring compliance with current standards, construction feasibility, on-site installation constraints, and easy cleaning and maintenance of the system. It should be noted that about a third of the designer's agenda will be devoted to the documentation required by ASME standards and to carrying out seismic calculations. The designer may also be required to visit the site to produce “as-built drawings” at the customer's request.

Technical component

  • Reproduce, produce or adjust manufacturing drawings (2D) from sketches, 3D concepts and other technical data, while respecting deadlines.
  • Draw up lists and specifications of all materials shown on drawings to ensure that they are ordered.
  • Provide technical support to the process engineering department, answering unsolicited questions and making plant visits as required.
  • Ensure information is presented clearly and accurately to facilitate manufacturing.
  • Accompany the skid-building department in the assembly of these systems, and modify plans as required according to constraints.
  • Ensure that built systems correspond to those signed by the customer, or have them validated as built if different.
  • Perform and sign off on seismic calculations for internal and external customers.
  • Support ASME project management: calculations and documentation.
  • Perform all other related tasks.

Academic requirements

  • DEC in industrial drafting or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • BAC in mechanical engineering.

Required profile

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar position.
  • Experience in Solid Edge and/or SolidWorks.
  • Experience in pressure piping and seismic design (asset).
  • Knowledge of ASME standards (asset).
  • Knowledge of seismic standards (asset).
  • Able to work in a dynamic, pressurized environment.
  • Bilingualism - French, English, in order to be able to collaborate with all the employees within the company.
