Description
The Supervisor, Materials Handling Equipment (MHE) Maintenance manages MHE assets located at multiple PCL facilities within a defined geographical region. They also support the PCL employees, contractors, scheduled maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives through defined processes and systems.
Responsibilities- Plan and schedule corrective and preventive maintenance of equipment, prioritizing and estimating work and technical assistance while developing job plans
- Execute maintenance projects in accordance with the operational plans and budgets with ongoing performance management per region
- Supervise daily maintenance procedures and operations for safe execution and compliance to safety standards.
- Assess current maintenance work processes, to optimize efficiency
- Execute maintenance management and inspection of Automated sorters / Conveyors to ensure 100% availability and reliability, work order completion and performance.
- Coordinate and plan schedules for both in-house and outside contractor repairs to meet operational requirement
- Lead and support frontline trades personnel (millwrights and electricians) to troubleshoot and proactively remediate risks and concerns with MHE to maintain uptime and availability
- Manage CMMS system with inputs of work order details, reliable methods and matching timely availability of required spares
- Perform periodic inspections of recently maintained/repaired equipment and regularly check and inspect the material and tools inventory to place orders as needed
- Manage the execution of maintenance projects and/or assist with the implementation of maintenance projects as needed
- Identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect operations
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, reliability, cost, quality of maintaining assets within the Warehouse/Sort Facility
Diploma or other equivalent qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing or
equivalent)
- Certification as industrial Millwright / Mechanic / Electrician ticket / qualification with relevant experience. P.Eng, licence would be an asset.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role, supervising and managing 15 to 18 skilled trades (i.e. welders, millwrights, electricians)
- Demonstrated effective leadership, credibility and the ability to motivate employees in both Unionised and non-unionised roles.
- Experience in implementing safety standards for conveyor systems and Material Handling Equipment
- Experience in an automated sortation facility and conveyor systems in a high-volume, 24x7, sortation environment (an asset).
- Demonstrated ability to work in a results-oriented, fast paced environment.
