Position Summary:

The Production Supervisor reports to the Production Manager and is responsible for all aspects of the production operations within the plant environment for Pinty’s Delicious Foods. They will be responsible for the direction and supervision of the production department by monitoring day to day activities of the production department. Drive leadership coaching and development with the hourly staff. Motivate, coach, train and develop line staff. Responsible for alignment with QA for food safety. Responsible for the safety training, GMP training and safe operation of all production related equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervisor of production operations in a variable shift manufacturing facility
  • Joint input and shared responsibility for the creation and adherence to budgets
  • Maintain the safety of the department to ensure the team works in a safety environment. Well versed in safety standards and able to communicate basic safety principles including but not limited to:
  • Rotational responsibility for participation on the Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Workplace inspections, including follow up actions
  • Conduct safety talks as per schedule
  • Review and participation in reducing workplace incidents and accidents
  • Well versed and responsible for worker safety and delivering training on personal protective equipment
  • Collaboration with the Quality Assurance team to ensure specification is met and Quality standards are met.
  • Direct scheduling and allocation of direct and indirect labour to achieve set production standards
  • Comprehension and adherence to all production specifications ensuring customer needs are met in the most efficient and cost-effective manner
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting of production data.
  • Enforce GMPs and HACCP.
  • Joint responsibility with the Production leadership for continuous improvement
  • Clear understanding of all manufacturing operations, cost implications and efficiency requirements to ensure continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Daily monitoring and supervision of the production department and all related employees
  • Monitor day to day activities of the production department.
  • Drive leadership coaching and development with the hourly staff.
  • Report any risk or evidence of unsafe or out-of-specification product, equipment, packaging or raw materials, to QA/manager, to enable the resolution of food safety and quality issues.
  • Motivate, assess, coach, train and develop line staff.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Production Manager

Skills and Qualification:

  • 2 years supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • Accountable for production costs and output
  • Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP & Health and Safety Act
  • Education and work experience in Industrial Engineering & Continuous Improvement Techniques
  • The ability to work on alternating shifts
