Your Impact

As Advisor, Contracts Sustaining Capital, you will manage site contract execution for Sustaining Capital projects, ensuring contracts are compliant, commercially sound, and aligned with regional and global procurement strategies. Your work directly supports capital project delivery by mitigating risk, driving cost efficiencies, strengthening supplier performance, and ensuring safe and compliant contract execution across BC operations.

As part of our team, you will:
Contract Lifecycle Management & Compliance
  • Run the full lifecycle of site contracts, assist the Site Supply Chain Lead in executing category strategies by ensuring the appropriate contracts are in place for sourcing materials and services and liaise with procurement teams to ensure that contracts meet the strategic objectives set by the category management team.
  • Ensure that all site contracts and procurement activities comply with legal, regulatory, and company policies, including health, safety, and environmental standards and assess and solve risks associated with contracts, including potential legal liabilities and performance issues.
  • Deliver regular reports on contract status, performance, and compliance to team members, contributing to the development of regional procurement strategies by offering insights based on contract performance.
  • Responsible for list of indirect contracts and track contract expiry dates and plan contract review with end user departments well in advance to develop sourcing strategy and implementation plan. Ensure no expired contracts.
Stakeholder and Supplier Engagement
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with site suppliers, ensuring open communication, timely resolution of any contract-related or performance issues and favorable negotiations of any changes to contract terms.
  • Build strong relationships with operational, maintenance, and commercial stakeholders to ensure procurement strategies are practical, supported, and adopted across site.
  • Ensure all suppliers, contractors, and category actions comply with mine safety standards, ESG commitments, Indigenous engagement goals, and regulatory requirements.
Strategic Sourcing and Analysis
  • Perform spend analysis, contract due diligence, identify leakages in the contract, market research, engage end user department for supplier performance feedback and develop insights to prepare sourcing strategy.
  • Prepare sourcing strategies and project plans, implement, draft award recommendations, document recommendations and liaise with site and corporate leadership to seek approvals for contract awards.
  • Responsible meet cost saving goals and track savings.
RFP and Negotiation Management
  • Prepare RFP packages, collaborating with end users to develop scope and suitable commercial models, issue RFP packages, manage bidders questions, arranging required site visits (if applicable), preparing bid analysis sheets, build a consensus on award recommendation, prepare recommendation to award and do commercial negotiations.
  • Develop negotiations strategies and align with cross functional teams to ensure objectives of negotiations are aligned with overall business goals and Newmont’s overall supply chain strategy for the category. Prepare and present negotiation plans and outcome to management.
  • Identify, assess, and proactively manage supply, commercial, and contractual risks; seek and capitalize on regional market opportunities.
Prerequisites for your Success in the Role:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field (C.P.M./C.P.S.M. preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes and vendor management
  • Prior experience in managing various indirect spend categories in mining and oil and gas industry is preferred
  • Experience in contract management in mining, oil & gas, or heavy industry
  • Skilled in SAP, Ariba, and Microsoft Office tools
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally

The expected salary range for this role is CA$85,400-113,900 . This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.
