GENERAL FUNCTION
Momentum Financial Services Group is hiring for a bilingual HR Business Partner to support our Quebec store network, as well as other districts within the Canada East region (fluent in French and English).
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the HR Business Partner operates as a strategic and consultative partner to employees and management in the retail stores. The HRBP supports all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including key areas such as recruitment, employee relations, performance and talent management, change management and organizational effectiveness.
We are looking for an experienced HR Business Partner who has a demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a remote environment. The ideal candidate has employee relations experience and the foundational HR knowledge to fulfill the responsibilities of this role, which are as follows:
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Employee Relations
- Act as primary HR contact to the employees and managers within assigned business line to ensure they are receiving appropriate support and follow-up.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
- Conducts effective, thorough and objective workplace investigations; ensures appropriate response related to Health and Safety, Hotline complaints etc.; involve/escalate as required.
- Manages and resolves complex employee relation issues and addresses third party claims.
- Consults regularly with management and provides guidance where appropriate, including HR policy guidance and interpretation.
- Works in conjunction with managers to make termination decisions and execute.
- Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
- Support engagement initiatives, including employee surveys and focus groups to measure employee satisfaction and engagement.
- Provides employment verification documentation and other various administrative support, where required
Performance and Talent Management
- Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
- Coaches, assists, consults with performance and development decisions (Performance Improvement Plans, Progressive Discipline, Development plans and programs).
- Consults on all promotions within area of responsibility and provides comp recommendations/guidelines.
- Develops contract terms for new hires, promotions and transfers.
- Partners with management to execute the company Performance Management cycles throughout the year.
- Provide reporting to managers to assist in execution and accountability for performance processes
Change Management and Organizational Effectiveness
- In partnership with business leaders, provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
- Monitors and provides reporting to business leaders monthly for key HR metrics (e.g. turnover; recruiting effectiveness; headcount; etc.) to assist the leaders in managing their areas.
- Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR leadership team to develop solutions, programs and policies.
- Support internal communication strategies around change/transformation initiatives.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources preferred, or relevant experience
- Human Resources certification preferred
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 3 years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues
- Experience effectively operating in a remote environment
- Experience working in the retail industry supporting a multi store operation, preferred
- Experience working in consumer lending, preferred
SKILLS
- Fluent French Bilingual is required (both written and verbal)

- Ability to manage workload and multitask in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
- Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience using Applicant Tracking and HRIS systems
