We are seeking a passionate and strategic Manager, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) to lead and advance our DEI initiatives across the organization. In this pivotal role, you will serve as a subject matter expert, advisor, and program manager—driving the implementation of our DEI strategy and leading the execution of key initiatives. You will also collaborate closely with our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and provide expert guidance on DEI best practices to inform and enhance our Human Resources decisions. At the heart of this role is a firm belief that fostering an inclusive culture—where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered—is essential to our mission of improving health outcomes for all Canadians. This role is critical to the success of our DEI journey—execution will be key. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate clear progress, deliver measurable outcomes, and regularly report on key initiatives to the executive leadership team. The ideal candidate will bring a bias for action, a results-oriented mindset, and a genuine desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our employees and the communities we serve.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Drive the development and implementation of LifeLabs’ DEI strategy and annual plans. Identify, design, and deliver scalable and sustainable programs and initiatives in collaboration with internal stakeholders. 
  • Governance & Advisory: Act as a DEI subject matter expert within LifeLabs’ governance model. Support and guide DEI teams including the Steering Council, ERGs, and task groups. Lead and manage team meetings, planning sessions, and ensure effective team operations.
  • Measurement & Accountability: Develop and track key metrics to assess the effectiveness of DEI strategies and programs. Oversee the DEI census survey in year one and support the development and execution of resulting goals and actions.
  • Collaboration & Integration: Partner with HR, internal communications, and other departments to embed DEI best practices into people programs, policies, and communications. Support the design and delivery of DEI learning and development initiatives.
  • External Partnerships & Research: Manage relationships with key external partners to ensure alignment with best practices. Conduct ongoing research and data analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and innovative solutions.
  • Communication & Engagement: Develop and support targeted communication plans that promote DEI awareness, engagement, and transparency across the organization.

Education:

  • Three-year Community College Diploma in Business or a related field. 
  • DEI certification or equivalent training (e.g., courses, certificates, workshops).
  • PMO Certification is an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. 

Experience:

  • Minimum of eight years of experience in organizational roles, with at least five years in a managerial or influential capacity.
  • At least three years of experience developing and implementing DEI strategies and plans.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex programs with measurable outcomes.
  • Experience working with governance structures, ERGs, and senior leadership teams.

  • Ability to navigate complexity, influence change, and inspire others across all levels of the organization.
