A career as a Senior Director within the Real Estate Management team at National Bank means acting as a leader accountable for the strategy and performance of real estate operations on a national scale. In this role, you directly contribute to the experience of more than 20,000 employees and clients across the country and provide leadership for the operation of a portfolio of over 500 sites totaling more than 5 million square feet, including National Bank’s head office, a flagship, state‑of‑the‑art 40 storey building located in downtown Montreal. You operate at the heart of the decisions that shape the resilience, sustainability and efficiency of work environments, influencing the Bank’s business priorities and strategic directions. This position allows you to have a structuring, high‑impact influence on the organization through your expertise in operational governance, strategic partnership management and optimization of complex real estate portfolio.

Your role
- Mobilize and influence a pan‑Canadian, multidisciplinary team as well as internal and external stakeholders, aligning operational priorities with strategic objectives in a national and executive context
- Lead the strategic partnership model with the external real estate service provider, including governance, roles, performance indicators, contractual agreements and continuous improvement mechanisms
- Define and champion real estate operations strategic directions, monitor performance using KPIs, and evolve internal standards, practices and tools
- Oversee the end‑to‑end operation of the real estate portfolio, including maintenance strategies, prioritization of critical issues, and compliance with health, safety, regulatory and environmental standards
- Ensure financial governance of real estate operations by optimizing operating and capital budgets, and by providing executive leadership with clear reporting on performance, risks and improvement plans
- Support occupant experience and long‑term portfolio performance by optimizing space utilization and deploying structured energy and environmental strategies
Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in large‑scale real estate operations, within a strategic partnership model with an integrated service provider
- Proven experience in cross‑functional leadership roles, requiring influence, change management and navigation of complex, matrixed environments
- Strong ability to analyze complex operational issues and translate them into strategic directions and decisions
- Technical expertise in the operation of complex buildings, including key systems (HVAC, electrical, fire alarm, mechanical and automation), smart buildings, and the use of data to support performance
- Mobilizing leadership and strong business credibility
- Ability to influence without formal authority
- Strategic communication, executive‑level presentation and simplification skills
- Systemic thinking, results orientation and change leadership capability
