As a Senior Cybersecurity Advisor at the National Bank of Canada, you demonstrate pragmatism and agility in approaching opportunities, technologies, and processes from a cybersecurity perspective.

In addition to assessing and continuously improving the cybersecurity risk posture of your assigned application portfolio, you foster a positive work environment anchored in teamwork and support of your peers.

Your role:

  • Evaluating compliance with cybersecurity standards across various Canadian and international regulatory frameworks.
  • Ensuring cybersecurity considerations are addressed throughout the development and maintenance lifecycle of systems.
  • Proactively supporting teams to deliver secure technology solutions from project inception.
  • Recommending security measures for applications and infrastructure components based on existing policies and industry best practices.
  • Producing, maintaining, and communicating indicators to stakeholders (progress, performance, risk, etc.).
  • Participating in complex projects and presenting detailed security reports, analyses, and evaluations to both technical and non-technical professionals.
  • Providing tactical and strategic guidance to business and technical teams to achieve acceptable security risk postures.

Prerequisites:

  • Completed bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, CEH, or others in the cybersecurity domain.
  • Experience in information security (authentication, authorization, access control, auditing, cryptography, etc.).
  • Proficiency in risk assessment using recognized tools.
  • Practical understanding of application architecture and related technologies.
  • Familiarity with some of the following technical concepts/tools is advantageous:
    • Cloud AWS / ISTIO
    • Orchestrators: Jenkins, GitHub Actions
    • Continuous Monitoring: Datadog, Splunk, etc.
    • Continuous Integration: GitHub, Bitbucket, etc.
    • Continuous Deployment: Harness, Urban Code, Argo CD, etc.
    • Continuous Security: Aqua Security, Nexus IQ, Artifactory, Veracode, SonarQube
    • Specifics of Kubernetes, Openshift
    • Knowledge of major cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, CobIT, ISO, etc.)
    • Familiarity with key cybersecurity regulations for financial institutions (PCI, BSIF, FFIEC, NYDFS, etc.)
    • Understanding of privacy-related regulations (Law 25, PIPEDA, GDPR, GLBA, etc.)
  • A solid understanding of security architecture and the conception of security.
