As an Analyst on the Real Estate Property and Mortgage Brokerage team at National Bank, you will develop your real estate brokerage career within an entrepreneurial and high-energy investment banking environment. You can expect to actively participate in a wide variety of transactions headed by senior members of the Real Estate Property and Mortgage Brokerage team and the Real Estate Investment Banking group. This will offer you exposure to the firm’s businesses and deepen your knowledge of the capital markets including both the real estate industry and investment banking.
Your Job
- Providing support in the execution of transactions related to, but not limited to, debt placement, equity and property sales
- Collaborate with clients and other key stakeholders to underwrite investment real estate transactions and support real estate decision-making processes
- Create, edit, and/or prepare proposals, including conducting general market research and other relevant analysis, for offering memorandums
- Conduct property level due diligence including visiting properties, researching and collecting information on market fundamentals, ownership, tenants, and other analysis
- Reading and summarizing reports including appraisals, building condition and environmental reports, and other relevant legal documents (i.e., property leases)
- Creating complex financial models using Excel and Argus while performing financial analysis to assist in the valuation of real estate properties across all major asset classes
- Performing various tasks supporting senior team members in their idea generation, transaction execution and client coverage efforts

This group currently consists of over 170 professionals located in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, and New York. The Investment Banking group at NBCM has demonstrated significant momentum over the past several years, with strong growth and market presence.
National Bank Capital Markets is looking to expand its Real Estate Property Brokerage team. The selected candidate will be part of the Real Estate Property Brokerage team, which operates within the Real Estate Investment Banking group of NBCM. The Real Estate Investment Banking team is a specialized group providing corporate and investment banking services to the Canadian real estate market. In Québec, the group also carries out real estate property brokerage and mortgage brokerage activities through its affiliated entities. The Real Estate Property Brokerage team-and this opportunity-are both based in‑office in Montreal.

Requirements
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in finance, accounting or related real estate field
- A minimum of 2 years of applicable real estate experience including working within one or more of the following areas would be considered an asset: property or debt brokerage, real estate appraisal, asset/ investment management, capital markets, or real estate financial analysis
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, including proficiency with Excel and Argus
- Knowledge of capital markets, debt, investment banking and real estate brokerage applications considered an asset
- Demonstrated problem-solving mindset, collaborative approach and great team spirit
- Able to adapt and prioritize, meeting deadlines, in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships
- OACIQ and/or AMF licensing would be considered an asset
