Description
As a Chief Analyst in the US Accounting & Regulatory team at National Bank, you’ll become a specialist in U.S. Broker dealer accounting and reporting. With your knowledge and experience in accounting and U.S GAAP you’ll have a positive impact on employee experience and the team. The Chief Analyst will be dedicated to National Bank of Canada Financial Inc. reporting activities, however will have the opportunity to cross-train with the New York Branch team. These activities are conducted from Montreal.
Your role
- Participate in business development and business case implementations
- Participate in the month-end financial close process
- Participate in the preparation of the various U.S. financial and regulatory reports, such as the FOCUS, SSOI, OBS and Custody reports filed with FINRA, quarterly and annual financial statements and monthly internal reports
- Collaborate with key partners, including auditors and compliance, to understand regulatory needs and assess their impact on existing solutions
- Assist in the production of various workpapers that are needed for the preparation of NBCFI’s annual U.S. and Canadian income tax returns
- Participate in external and regulatory audits
- Act as an advisor to the team by providing regulatory expertise and brokerage operations

Within the Finance sector, you’ll be part of a team of 6 colleagues that promotes collaboration and innovation, and will report to the Senior Manager, U.S. Accounting & Regulatory Reporting. The team is responsible for the production of statutory and regulatory reports for NBCFI, the U.S. broker-dealer subsidiary of National Bank of Canada as well as for NBC’s New York branch. Our team stands out for its expertise in U.S. GAAP.

Prerequisites
- Bachelor's degree with a major in Accounting
- CPA designation or financial market operations experience (an asset)
- Detail oriented with effective analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Self-starter and team player
- Ability to meet strict deadlines
- Strong Excel skills
- Knowledge of the SAP general ledger platform and associated AO and FIORI applications (an asset)
