Being a Associate Vice-President Portfolio Management in the Real Estate Financing sector at National Bank means coaching a team of Portfolio Management Directors and Senior Analysts in the real estate financing sector to enhance financing solutions in the Real Estate Financing (FI) team's files, while being involved in the sector's large and complex files. This job allows you to have a positive impact on our organization through your leadership, collaboration spirit, and credit analysis skills.
The selected person can work in Calgary or Edmonton.

Your Job:
  • Manage and coach a team of Portfolio Management Directors (PMD) and Senior Analysts (SA), supporting regional vice presidents, creating a climate conducive to mobilization and achieving objectives.
  • Monitor the progress of team members and the development of their skills through personalized coaching.
  • Aim to optimize the sector's efficiency, productivity, and profitability by implementing optimal risk management strategies.
  • Support the sector's large and complex files, both in construction financing and long-term financing.
  • Participate in the development of the annual strategic plan for Portfolio Management Directors and Senior Analysts and manage its execution.
  • Develop and maintain a lasting relationship with the FI team's account directors through various customer acquisition and retention activities.
  • Act as the Bank's ambassador within the local community and foster relationships with key partners.
  • Ensure a balance between risk management and profitability in business development.
  • Ensure the quality control of inputs, management of overdue files, monitoring of indicators, and operational procedures.
  • Stay abreast of market developments and ensure that credit criteria and processes meet evolving needs while optimizing sound risk management.
  • Develop and deliver tailored training for real estate financing sector employees.
  • Be proactive in identifying new ways of doing things, promoting continuous improvement, and using new tools.

Your Team: 
Within the Real Estate Financing (FI) sector, you will manage Portfolio Management Directors, Senior Analysts and will report to the Regional Vice President - Real Estate Financing for Alberta. Our team stands out for its dynamism and expertise in real estate financing.

Basic requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree related to the sector and 10 years of relevant experience or Master's degree and 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Solid experience in real estate credit for all types of assets, both for construction and term files, including knowledge of CMHC insurance policies and procedures.
  • Experience in personnel management and/or coaching.
  • Solid experience in real estate credit for all types of assets, both for construction and term files.
  • Good command of various banking systems.
  • Strong influence, leadership, and priority management skills.
  • Autonomy, organization, and change management.
