Temporary Full Time Complexity Teacher
Southview Community School is pleased to offer a temporary full-time teaching position on our Complexity Team for the remainder of the 2026 school year. Southview Community School is seeking a compassionate, reflective, and collaborative educator who is passionate about inclusive practices and committed to ensuring every student feels safe, supported, and capable of success. The successful candidate must demonstrate alignment with the mission, vision, values, and goals of Southview Community School and the Medicine Hat School Division. Southview Community School serves approximately 145 students from Early Learning through Grade 6 and proudly hosts the Medicine Hat School Division's CASA program for students in Grades 4-6. Our school community reflects a rich diversity of learners, and we are deeply committed to inclusive, student-centered practices. Southview Community School prioritizes strong foundations in literacy and numeracy; positive social-emotional development; leadership and citizenship through our Positive Behaviour Support program: P.A.W.S.; collaborative, wraparound supports for students with complex needs.The Complexity Team teacher plays a key role in supporting students with diverse and complex learning profiles. This position involves designing and delivering targeted intervention while collaborating closely with classroom teachers, educational assistants, families, and specialized service providers.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
- Strong understanding of inclusive education practices
- Experience supporting students with complex academic, behavioural, and social-emotional needs
- Ability to integrate sensory and occupational therapy-informed strategies into daily programming
- Experience collaborating with occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, mental health professionals, and multidisciplinary teams
- Experience providing small group and targeted intervention
- Demonstrated use of research-based literacy and numeracy practices
- Experience developing and implementing Individual Support Plans (ISPs)
- Experience supporting students learning English as an Additional Language (EAL)
- Relevant training (e.g., Zones of Regulation, trauma-informed practice, executive functioning supports, sensory integration)
