Educational Assistants with Early Childhood Educator Certification
for Play & Learn and Special Needs Assistants
Medicine Hat Public School Division is taking applications for Casual/Substitute Educational Assistants with their Early Childhood Educator Certification for Play & Learn Program Assistants and Special Needs Assistants.
Program Assistants will support the Primary Early Childhood Educator (ECE) with implementing programming in the Play & Learn program for kindergarten aged children. You will be responsible to deliver programming to support the development of early literacy, early numeracy, motor skills and social emotional growth of children participating in Play & Learn during the 2025-2026 school year.
Special Needs Assistants support children with specialized medical, cognitive, or behavioural needs alongside the program staff.
Qualifications
- Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3 Alberta Early Childhood Educator Certification, or willingness to complete the Level 1 online course at minimum.
- Criminal record check with vulnerable sector check less than six months old will be required prior to employment.
- Completed SIVA training, current Intermediate First Aid/CPR - preferred.
The ideal candidate will have:
- The ability to follow through with a program plan that supports learning through play with Flight: Alberta's Early Learning and Care Framework as a guiding document.
- Demonstrated a commitment to work collaboratively with a Primary ECE to support student success and as a member of the broader school community.
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable in order to carry out effective programming for children.
- Interpersonal skills that result in building positive relationships through effective communication.
- An understanding of child development and experience working with children with diverse needs.
- Ability to understand and follow ISP's and behavior support plans.
- Experience with and understanding of the Alberta Early Learning and Childcare Act and Regulations.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
