Finance Manager, Prepared Foods Operations

The Opportunity: The Finance Manager, Prepared Foods Operations leads a team that provides financial analysis and decision support to three manufacturing sites located in Mississauga, Guelph, and Port Perry. As a key member of the site leadership teams, the Finance Manager, Prepared Foods Operations will leverage their strong financial acumen and leadership skills to become a trusted business partner, working effectively as a member of cross-functional teams to identify and execute opportunities to improve site results. Key accountabilities in this role include ensuring that site variance reporting, budgeting, and product costing is complete and accurate, and ensuring that internal controls are operating effectively.

  • Coach and lead a team of three Sr. Financial Analysts that are responsible for:
    • Daily, weekly, and monthly reporting of site variances
    • Period end close
    • Maintaining an effective control environment at the site
    • Ensuring accurate product costing from product development through to launch
  • Be an active business partner to the site leadership team:
    • Interpreting financial results and providing analysis to site leadership to support decision making
    • Identifying, recommending, and supporting cost improvement opportunities
    • Providing guidance and coaching on matters of financial control and compliance
  • Manage the site budget process for direct product costs, overheads, and capital
  • Manage weekly forecasting and tracking of overheads and direct product costs
  • Review continuous improvement projects, assess savings and report approved savings in partnership with Six Sigma
  • Ensure accounting procedures adhere to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and approved corporate policies
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis to support site projects and business decisions as required
What Youll Bring:
  • Post-Secondary Education in a finance/business related program required
  • 5+ years of progressive finance experience in an ERP environment required (SAP preferred)
  • Completion of professional accounting designation program (CPA) preferred
  • Experience in Standard Costing is an asset
  • Advanced knowledge of MS office required
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to coach and mentor others
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to work and drive improvements within a team environment
