Position Responsibilities:
ESG Integration for Public Markets Asset Classes (50%):
Support corporate engagement efforts by conducting preliminary research, formulating targeted questions, and participating in discussions with Sustainability Team Analysts.
Conduct in-depth research and co-author a paper on emerging sustainability technology (e.g., green hydrogen, circular economy) to support team learning and sustainability strategy development.
Perform sustainability analysis on corporate issuers to help investment teams assess material risks and opportunities.
Assist in quarterly sustainability portfolio reviews by analyzing data, preparing briefing materials, and participating in team discussions.
Proxy Voting Support (50%):
Contribute to the research and refinement of proxy voting policy and guidelines, ensuring they align with Manulife IM’s fiduciary responsibilities to clients, including consideration of sustainability in voting decisions and prevailing market best practices.
Assist in post-season evaluations to analyze voting outcomes and derive insights that inform future proxy voting strategies.
Support the development and enhancement of proxy process documentation and training materials.
Required Qualifications:
Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Real Estate, Engineering, or a related field with an anticipated graduation date in Spring 2027.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
Demonstrated interest in investments, financial strategy, or operations.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment.
Experience with financial modeling or investment analysis.
Exposure to global markets or alternative asset classes.
Familiarity with ESG investing or sustainable finance.
Interest in enterprise strategy or business operations.
