Description
Global Operations Risk and Control Team supports the management of operational risk by embedding robust risk culture through talent, metrics, and data across the operations function globally. We are a team of highly effective problem solvers in strategy, operations, and risk management.
We are searching for a dynamic, self-driven leader who thrives in ambiguity and is passionate about solving complex, high impact challenges through data and cutting-edge technology. As the Global Records & Information Management Strategy Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the enterprise approach to records management, driving compliance, and safeguarding important business records together with the business.
Position Responsibilities:
Strategy and Enterprise Program Delivery
- Develop and execute transformative RIM strategies that leverage data, analytics, AI, and automation, ensuring Manulife’s compliance with global regulatory standards while improving operational efficiency and control effectiveness.
- Lead and manage high-profile, enterprise-wide projects implementing records management solutions, workflow automation, and digital capabilities across key repositories and platforms, including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Purview, and the Power Platform.
- Collaborate with global leaders and stakeholders across operations, technology, legal, compliance, and risk to drive RIM policy compliance, awareness, and training initiatives.
Governance and Operations
- Manage RIM program governance through Steer Committees, Segment/Function Record Officer Forums, and Program Working Groups to ensure timely execution against program milestones and monitoring of risk posture
Change Management:
- Champion change management efforts, driving a risk aware culture related to the engagement of stakeholders, and accountability for records management across the enterprise.
- Collaborate with communications teams to promote RIM initiatives and foster a culture of compliance and innovation.
- Analyze and compile metrics and reports to track progress on Global and Segment/Function RIM initiatives, using dashboards, automation, and AI-enabled insights to support effective decision-making across all levels of the organization.
- Oversee the Global Record Retention Schedule, partnering with Compliance, Legal, Operations and Risk teams to maintain alignment with evolving legislation and regulations.
- Support the Global RIM CoE Lead in defining and implementing standards, projects, and best practices that optimize the lifecycle management of records.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in risk and control, compliance, audit and/or records management within financial services.
- Degree in records/Information management/computer science/data analysis or library science or related field preferred.
- Professional certifications in risk management, auditing, compliance or RIM are advantageous.
- Experience in managing large-scale archival and destruction projects.
- Familiarity with global insurance operations and regulatory environments.
- An understanding of Manulife lines of business, various global functions and organizational framework.
- Proven ability to work in a global, matrixed organization.
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft 365, including Purview, SharePoint Online, Power BI, and the Power Platform, with experience or demonstrated capability in Power Apps, Power Automate, workflow automation, and AI-enabled solutions.
- Familiarity with records management software and systems, such as SharePoint, Alfresco, Confluence, or similar applications, and the ability to assess how these tools can integrate with automation and AI capabilities to improve lifecycle management and controls.
Preferred Qualification:
- A strategic thinker with proven experience in financial services, operations strategy, and risk management.
- Skilled in project management, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration at a global scale.
- Experience in records management an asset.
- Enthusiastic about experimenting with emerging technologies, including AI, automation, and advanced analytics, to drive impactful results and scalable process improvement.
- Exceptionally self-motivated and driven to find solutions and deliver results in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
- Committed to maintaining the highest standards of compliance, integrity, and operational excellence.
- Strong program and project management skills and ability to independently manage multiple conflicting priorities and deliver a quality result within tight deadlines.
- Proven leadership experience and demonstrated ability to forge consensus of diverging views from cross functional stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven strategic recommendations.
- Embrace innovative solutions and evolving technologies to stay relevant, including AI-enabled tools, Power Apps, Power Automate, and other digital capabilities that support continuous improvement, automation, and stronger governance outcomes.
- Strong organization, analysis, administration, communication skills, along with keen attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.

Salary range is expected to be between
$92,900.00 CAD - $142,900.00 CADEmployees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
