Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Analyst to join our Global Portfolio Analytics Group team. This role requires a unique blend of business acumen and technical expertise to drive data-driven decision-making and optimize portfolio performance across global investment teams.

As part of the General Account Chief Operating Office (GA COO), the Global Portfolio Analytics Group (GPAG) combines business knowledge and analytical skills to effectively solve problems related to the General Account decision support, portfolio management, trading, and workflow processes.

GA COO is responsible for setting and executing GA's non-investment decision strategy and operations, and ensures a consistent and efficient approach to shared operational activities and concerns within GA.

This role is ideal for a team player who is highly motivated and would like to participate in a variety of projects within the GA COO and learn more about the General Account Investments division. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop critical and transferable skills: quantitative, communication, systems, programming, and strategic thinking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support process improvements, automation and workflow enhancements to streamline existing portfolio analytics solutions
  • Support the development and implementation of new analytical tools and systems
  • Create and analyze detailed portfolio and segment performance reports for various business units globally
  • Work closely with various investment teams to analyze and monitor asset positions relative to the target benchmarks
  • Collaborate with various GA groups to analyze and implement investment strategies in the in-house portfolio management systems
  • Develop expertise in our proprietary in-house GA systems and assist with daily operational inquiries
  • Work with the GPAG and IT teams to enhance the in-house tool features and implement improvements to existing processes
  • Build and enhance analytics dashboards and reporting tools using MS Power BI, MS Fabric and MS Excel to support investment and business needs
  • Work collaboratively with various GA stakeholders, building and leveraging relationships by understanding their issues and challenges
  • Assist in additional projects and fulfill ad-hoc requests as required

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, computer science or a related field. A master’s degree or CFA designation is a plus
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in portfolio analytics, investment management, or a related field
  • Understanding of the investment process and related operations of General Account Investments, including relevant constraints and objectives
  • Experience and exposure to various asset classes - publics, real estate, private equity, infrastructure, private placements, commercial mortgages etc.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modelling and data analysis
  • Process and result-oriented with strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to deal with multiple stakeholders from different backgrounds at the same time
  • Proactive and able to work both independently and collaboratively with team members
  • Ability to multi-task, effectively prioritize, work under tight timelines and manage multiple stakeholders

Technical Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in portfolio management tools (e.g., Bloomberg, FactSet, Morningstar Direct, Aladdin, Charles River, etc)
  • Proficiency in MS Power BI for data visualization and reporting
  • Advanced knowledge of VBA for automation and process improvement
  • Strong SQL skills for database management and querying
  • Experience with Python for data analysis and scripting

Salary range is expected to be between

$71,925.00 CAD - $119,875.00 CAD
