Network Administrator

Exempt Level 5 ( Salary - $70,564 - $90,709 per annum)



Position Summary:

Guided by the Manager of Network and Systems Infrastructure, the Network Administrator will oversee the management and upkeep of our network infrastructure across all schools and the Catholic Education Centre (CEC) building. This position involves working closely with a collaborative team to enhance and ensure the security and connectivity of network services for all users.



Major Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support network infrastructure across all Board sites, including LAN/WAN, switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless networks.
  • Administer and troubleshoot core network services, including DNS and DHCP, to maintain high availability and performance.
  • Maintain and support Windows Operating Systems, macOS, and iOS devices across the network.
  • Collaborate with the team to plan, implement, and monitor network upgrades, security enhancements, and expansions.
  • Leverage knowledge of AI tools and technologies to improve network monitoring, automation, and incident response.
  • Assist in developing and enforcing network security policies and procedures aligned with best practices and compliance standards.
  • Document network configurations, system changes, and incident reports comprehensively .
  • Provide technical support and guidance to staff regarding network and system issues.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and execution for network systems.
  • Experience with cloud and on-premises backup strategies for business continuity and disaster recovery would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of IP-based security camera systems.
  • Configure and manage VoIP hardware/software including handsets, softphones, and troubleshooting connectivity issues.



Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum three-year experience as a Network Administrator or similar role, preferably managing multi-site networks.
  • Extensive knowledge of networking protocols and services, including DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and routing.
  • Strong experience with Windows OS, macOS, and iOS device management.
  • Familiarity with AI applications in network management or automation is a significant asset.
  • Hands-on experience with network hardware such as Cisco, Juniper, Extreme Networks, Wi-Fi Technology, or equivalent devices.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

This role necessitates travel within York Region to support network infrastructure at various locations and may involve adjusting work hours for testing, updates, and potential system recovery outside regular hours.
