Senior Financial Analyst

We’re looking for a bilingual, experienced and motivated CPA to join our Fund Reporting team within Manulife’s Global Wealth and Asset Management. The position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, embraces change, and can navigate complex processes independently.

Candidates can be located in either Montreal or Toronto.

Reporting to the Director of financial reporting, the Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for preparing and reviewing quality financial statements for investment funds. The incumbent will require knowledge of accounting for investments and expertise of fund reporting including regulatory requirements NI 81-106, CLHIA G2 and OFSI.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze annual and interim financial statements for investment funds, ensuring accuracy and timeliness

  • Work independently with external auditors on assigned tasks for audited financial statements

  • Identify and resolve data inconsistencies or errors

  • Prepare journal entries with appropriate qualitative and quantitative backup

  • Collaborate with people inside and outside division

  • Maintain and update process documentation annually

  • Participate fully as a member of the team, promote team effectiveness and contribute to a positive work environment

  • Provide recommendations on efficiencies, standards and improvements related to financial processes and/or systems

  • Understand and apply control frameworks and risk management principles

  • Participate in the investment division projects as a subject matter expert on financial reporting

  • Be abreast with knowledge of accounting requirements for investment funds IFRS, IFIC, NI 81-106, CLHIA G2 and OSFI

  • Be able to interpret and summarize accounting guidelines.

  • Participate in team projects

  • Prepare data and report for corporate reporting

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience preparing audited financial statements or investment fund operations

  • Accounting designation (CPA)

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel

  • Bilingual (French & English) is required - The successful candidate will be required to communicate in English and French in order to support clients from various jurisdictions outside of Quebec.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with fund accounting systems will be an asset (e.g. Fund Suite ARC, MPower)

  • Understanding or interest in the Investment Industry.

  • Strong performer with track record of implementing controls and efficiencies

  • Prior audit experience is a plus

  • Strong analytical and inquiry skills to understand operational issues and constraints

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision but in line with team objectives

  • Effectively communicate ideas/ recommendations while considering viewpoint of stakeholders or team members

  • Work in an efficient manner and respect timelines

  • Able to work overtime during peak periods

Salary range is expected to be between

$69,750.00 CAD - $116,250.00 CAD
