Sales Governance and Controls Analyst

As the Sales Governance & Controls Analyst, you’ll monitor compliance of sales practices with external regulations and internal policies. As a member of the Bank’s Strategy, Governance and Controls team you will support the management of key controls related to sales practices to mitigate operational risk exposures. You will partner with key stakeholders across the first and second line on audit support and risk detection and prevention through enhancing existing controls and procedures or creating new ones to support risk mitigation throughout Sales.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Identify and implement controls for Sales as well as measure, monitor, and report on those controls across Sales Inclusive of:

    • Overseeing the implementation of Sales internal control process improvements based on audit findings or recommendations

    • Performing periodic tests of existing controls, define testing plans, report findings to management, and propose remediation plans or raise issues/Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) where appropriate

    • Working with Sales leadership to implement, execute, evaluate effectiveness and evolve controls as required over time

    • Maintaining process maps

  • Escalate to 1B any new controls where gaps have been identified, or when a new initiative or business process is introduced

  • Support Sales Leaders to review and respond to internal and external Audit requests, facilitate providing evidence, assisting with responses to findings and recommendations, and ensuring audit points and corrective action plans are closed within the expected timeframe

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including Compliance, Operational Risk Management, Privacy, Sales Practices, and Internal Audit teams to support identification of issues and action plans to remediate control gaps

  • Complete Risk Control Self-Assessments (RCSA) for Sales and reviewing the adequacy of controls to determine if additional actions are required

  • You will be a key subject matter expert on sales compliance requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • You understand the “3 lines of defense” and your role within them.

  • You have a strong understanding of controls frameworks and risk management practices.

  • You are familiar with audit and corrective action plan processes and have a Financial Services/Banking background.

  • You’ve spent 5 years or more growing your knowledge, skills, and experience in this line of work and you have a clear track record of success in supporting or leading the implementation of internal control process improvements or initiatives.

  • You never lose sight of the customer - their needs and their experience in doing business with us. You put the customer at the centre of everything you do.

  • You have solid operational knowledge of Banking products and processes and the types of technology solutions that allow a Business to manage them.

  • You don’t like to stand by when you notice that there’s something that could work better. You are accountable, you own it, you find solutions and do something about it!

  • You have project management and analytical skills and can work with teams to critically analyze issues, lead with expertise, resolve problems and drive to implement solutions

  • You are a strategic thinker with the ability to think conceptually beyond day-to-day business realities and to effectively consider downstream impacts.

  • You learn FAST. You pick up new ideas, concepts, technologies, and tools easily. You are comfortable with MS Office applications and tools including Excel, Word, Access, Sharepoint, PowerAutomate and PowerBI.

  • You have an approachable style and great communication skills that makes people want to work with you.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • You have a university degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration and/or equivalent experience in a Controls environment within the Canadian Banking industry.

Salary range is expected to be between

$71,925.00 CAD - $119,875.00 CAD
